I had planned a stopover between a visit with friends in Brussels and a wedding in Maastricht. Being a history buff I had been to Waterloo briefly once before, but really wanted to see it all this time, so proximity to the battlefield was vital. I dragged my wife along despite the fact that her interest in battlefields ranks down...

We stayed 2 nights in July to visit the battlefield. Excellent as the hotel is within walking distance of the Lion Mound .From our front bedroom you could see it lit up at night. The front bedrooms were noisy as the main road is close, but it didn't worry us.very hot and we had to have the windows wide open...

Many have written about the location which is superb as the hotel is just at the crossroads within walking distance of the Lion monument and the farmhouse at Haye Sante on Wellingtons front line. I can endorse the many positive comments about the location and staff. I would like to add on the positive that the restaurant food is excellent...

We stayed for three nights at the hotel so that we could visit the battlefield of Waterloo. The location is superb, we could see the battlefield from our bedroom window, and it was just a few minutes stroll to the Lion monument and the new museum. We parked up and didn't need the car at all. But the room was...

This is a great place to stay - it doesn't get much more atmospheric than this, being the middle of Wellington's line. Clean, tidy if somewhat small rooms, pleasant staff. Can get a bit hot and the Brussels-Charleroi road running past is noisy from the early morning. Well woth a visit.

We found the location next to the "lion's mound" to be incredible. Parking was on-site, free and easy. The historical nature of the building is also quaint. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had the "apartment", sort of out back, which felt like it may have recently been renovated. It was very roomy (we were a family of...

We booked for one night and got the "hill" room, a small but very clean room, onfortunate The window looked out on a roof and +/- 1 meter was the extraction from de kitchen. Even with the window closed a lot of noise and with de window open noise + smell of the kitchen. So avoid the "hill" room. Another...

My room was small and the main light did not seem to work. Still, it was clean, cosy and the staff friendly. More to the point, you rested your head at night yards from an epic moment in history. Amazing.

We booked this hotel as my husband is writing a book on Waterloo so we wanted to be near to the battlefield. This hotel couldn't be any nearer- it's surrounded by it and only 2minutes walk from the visitor centre and Lion's Mound. The rooms are little small and no tea or coffee maker. They are also very very hot,...
