Such good value for money, we booked a private room and it was perfect the beds are comfortable but small, it was 37 degrees in amsterdam so was really nice to cone back to the room with great air conditioning, id recommend getting the breakfasts i think it was around €7 and the hash browns were delicious, there is also such a nice lounge area with a pool table, would definitely recommend:)
I was due to stay at this hostel but never got to it due to a sudden death. I informed them through messages on Booking.com that I couldn't make it due to a sudden death. I enquired about a refund considering the situation because of the reason I couldn't go to the hostel. First of all they said I didn't pay them , But I did pay, I sent them a receipt and a bank statement. Then secondly they said they can't issue of refund. 0 sympathy shown towards me and I read other reviews aswell that the staff aren't genuinely nice to people.
Me and my friend were staying in a twin-room with en suite and breakfast included. Check-in to the hotel was quick - literally didn’t even have to talk to the receptionist - so headed up to our room. Everything was going well, the room was simple but served it’s purpose, up until we realised our blind had been broken by the people staying before us. Headed to reception, and was moved quickly to another room. This room was comparably more dirty than the first. The shower had clumps of hair in the drain (which I ended up picking up and throwing in the bin) and blobs of conditioner up the walls, the floor of the rest of the room was covered in hair - some even made their way into our ‘clean’ towels (which again we ended up picking up and throwing away ourselves) and the bin hadn’t been emptied. We left for dinner that evening, on our way out spotted one of the housekeepers who shooed us away (without hearing us out) so we notified reception - where we were told they would leave a message for housekeeping - however no one ever cleaned our room the duration of our stay. The beds were pretty sturdy but sleep-able. Everything else in the hostel was nice and facilities were good considering the price of a room. Staff seemed very friendly and accommodating. It’s a shame the second room was how it was, otherwise we would’ve given a higher review.…
I recently stayed at the hostel, arriving at about 4pm and checking in using the website, I was notified that the room was not yet ready, but housekeeping would be there shortly and that I could access the room immediately after that. I sat down in the common room to wait, but after about half an hour I could still not access the room. I went up to the reception to ask if housekeeping had been there yet and when I would get access to my room, they said they would notify housekeeping ans that it should only be a little while longer. I once again sat down and waited for about an hour with no change, I went up to reception instead and asked when I would gain access to my room. They (again) answered that it would be fixed shortly and as it was approaching 6pm I decided to head out into the city to eat and enjoy myself. When I got back the issue was STILL not resolved, and the only reason I could even get into the hostel again was because some friendly backpackers standing outside let me in. I went up to reception again and asked them about it, the man standing there said it was strange, but that he would fix it. Sure enough, some 5 minutes later I got the notification that my room was ready for me and I received the access pin in the Goki app. Satisfied, I grabbed a few drinks in the common room with fellow backpackers and after a couple of hours decided to head up to my room to sleep. However, when I finally accessed the room I found not only a very filthy room with clothes and cans strewn about and stains on the floor, but also someone else sleeping in my bed! I once again headed down to reception to inform them about it and they suggested that the one in my bed had simply accidentally picked the wrong one and that I should just use the one he was originally going to use in the room. So I went up to check only to discover that while there was an empty bed, it wasnt clean at all, with clothes and trash strewn about in the bed! When I informed reception of this, they called up housekeeping to clean the bed and bring me fresh sheets, but when housekeeping arrived at the room he simply handed me the sheets without cleaning the bed. As it was almost 3 in the morning at this point I decided to just bite the bullet and change the sheets, tossing the clothes and things on the floor, however when I started to do this, another person in the room said that it was his friends bed and that he would be arriving shortly, meaning in actuality there were no empty beds. At this point I tried, and failed, to wake the person sleeping in my original bed. Instead I headed down to reception who had security follow me up to the room to throw the guy out. When he eventually awoke it became apparent that he was in the wrong room, mistaking 148 for 248, and when asked by the gurad how he'd even accessed the room he replied he'd used the key on his phone, meaning his key could access rooms he wasn't even checked in to! Imagine if instead of simply falling asleep he'd stolen something or the like! All in all it became apparent that not only does housekeeping not check if rooms are actually clean (or even empty!), security is so lacking that guests can access rooms that aren't even theirs!…
First, we wanted to check in quickly for a wedding. It took 45 min to check in… the workers seemed in no rush even though there was a long queue. Second, the late check-in is more expensive that it says on the website. (6,50). The next morning the cleaners still came inside our room at 10 even though we paid dor the late check-in, the same happened to my brothers’ room. Quite embarrassing. Also, my parents wanted to have breakfast earlier and they also paid for the late check-in but they were locked outside their room because the code of the door didn’t work. Overall, an awful service.
This hostel looks good online, but allowed someone to check into my room, security seems really lax, and I don't think this is a safe place to stay. They allowed a random person into my room on MY booking, and will not refund me for the booking which was used fraudulently. Very disappointed. The attitude of staff is very unhelpful. They are very rude.
Its a very atmospheric hostel. Many places to sit, lots of possible activities. Room was okay and quite clean. Nice employees that are very helpfull and caring . Three points of improvement: 1. Window: I had one window in my room I could not open. It would have been really nice to air out my room. 2. Guest kitchen: its old and not clean. A little bit more design, clean towels you can use and a washbasket for the dirty ones, a very specific order where you have to put things. These three things would help a lot to keep te kitchen clean. 3. No water boiler: so at night I could not get some hot water or I had to pay 1,50 a cup. I think it is very hospitable to make sure people can always get some hot water for there own tea our soup.
It's the 3rd time i stay in this Hostel. I like the atmosphere, friendliness of the staff and location, but this is the second time the room is dirty. Last time i stayed there was an open lube container right on top of the bed. This time there was dry urin on the toilet seat, a gum stuck by the mirror, deied toothpaste on the sink and hair onthe bed. It makes me wonder if they even change the sheets. I really don't think I'll be staying there again
Location is convenient, easily accessible from Amsterdam Centraal via the ferry across the river. Lots of great open spaces for socializing inside. The room with a double bed is the perfect size and contains everything that is needed of expectations.
Booked a room just prior to the pandemic starting and wasnt not able to make our original booking. Clink wouldnt refund us and was poor to commuincate until we issued a chargeback through our card provider. Eventually we were offered credit which we had to extend as the Netherlands wasn't allowing foreign travel. We were finally able to rebook when the Netherlands were allowing foreign travel just in time before our credit expired, and travel restrictions then tightened again shortly after. Non essential shops in Amsterdam would be closing at 5pm each day making a trip quite undesirable and the cost of testing has risen dramtically and self isolation would have been nessesary. I contacted Clink to see if they could once again extend the credit until travel was deemed safe, but they outright refused to. They also said that if the Nethereland were to stop allowing travel all together, they would still not extend the credit. It has now been 671 days since I booked the hotel, and clink still have my money for a service that I have not, and now will not, be using. They are extremely unresonable and have now left us 305 euro out of pocket. Our airline have allowed us to change our flights free of charge to a different destination next year so we will now no longer be visiting Amsterdam at all. Thanks a lot Clink! Book somewhere else.…
