XO Couture Hotel - Amsterdam Our experience began when an employee was fired in the lobby. The supervisor used degrading language and caused a scene making it very uncomfortable for the lobby of guests. Night 1 - We quickly realized the hygienic guarantee was being exaggerated when we were greeted by a roach in the room. Night 2 - Our room was turned over, but there was a bloody butt print on one of our beds (none of us left it). We called to the front desk to have the bloody duvet removed. They apologized and 30 minutes later sent a housekeeper to the room. She was very rude and threw the new bedding on our luggage (which was not clean). Then she grabbed the bedding and rudely walked off. We did not exchange even a word with her. She entered and stomped off in under 2 minutes. We called the desk and explained we would like clean sheets. We also noticed the bathmat and towels were very dirty despite "being clean". Night 3 - Whiles showering I realized there were words written on the shower walls that were apparent when the shower fogged up. We complained to the desk that our room was not being cleaned to our satisfaction and we were worried about cleanliness due to covid. We were helped by Amy who was friendly and understanding, but ultimately unable to help us have the room cleaned. We spoke to the front desk when a manager was on duty, but she was rude and unhelpful. Amy had offered us a complimentary late checkout as it was all she could do to help and the manager said that was sufficient for the issues we dealt with. She said they were short staffed and she confirmed she did not care that we felt the room was dirty. We were checking out so no longer her problem. I did not feel safe or welcomed in the hotel. I ended up buying our own disinfecting supplies and cleaning. Rude service, dirty rooms, bad managers. I understand being short staffed, but you could at least communicate and ensure cleanliness standards are being enforced. I would be fine waiting for my room to be cleaned as long as were were told. There are better ways to handle this situation. I hope new management resolves this issue.…
Stayed here as a group of four friends for a 3 night stay. On arrival, was greated by the fabulous Rania. Like previous reviews have said she was kind polite and very helpful, just what you want after travelling. We were given room 1107, top floor. The room was fantastic, double bed in one area and 2 singles in another area, so comfy. Rainfall shower and deep bathtub with shower and a range of toiletries. Room had 2 tvs, iron and ironing board, nesspresso machine with supplies. The only thing I would say as four ladies doing hair and makeup, there wasn't any mirror near the plugs or any lights above the main mirror for makeup. Breakfast was self serve, a good range for all tastes. Luggage room was handy also. Number 2 tram stop outside which took about 20/30 mins to get to the centre. Would I stay here again....DEFINITELY!…
We had a pleasant stay, by no means terrible but definitely room for improvement Pros - Close to tram stop, number 2 tram stops right outside. - Really good breakfast, lots of choice and hot food hot. - Good size room (we had comfort double) - Early check in/late check out options, luggage room if you don't want to pay the extra Cons - Ordered pastries as coming for my husbands birthday but these were forgotten and I had to get them to refund - Slow draining shower (we did tell reception but did not get fixed), the tray would fill up and leak out the door flooding the bathroom. - No spare pillows and those on the bed were small in size for the size bed. - Noisy cleaner in the mornings. The noise travels through the corridor so you could hear her going in and out of the rooms banging doors.…
Great hotel which has went above and beyond to accommodate my many changed bookings due to covid. Excellent staff and the comfiest beds ever. The breakfast is also worth booking too. Returning again this October.
I stayed here recently and firstly location is not too bad, a little on the outskirts but the Tram number 2 stop is just outside less than 3 min walk so its quite convenient, nearby there are supermarkets within 10min walk, special mention to the new staff Rania from Dubai and You You from China who were really nice and kind throughout the entire stay. Rooms are spacious and beds are comfy, only downside is that there is no kettle to boil water and that they will charge for early check-in and late checkouts at Euro $5 an hour and Euro $10 an hour, they should at least as a gesture of goodwill give or take an hour late check-out or early check-in complimentary esp during these times when the hotel industry is trying to gain more guests. Also the reservations is very rude and unhelpful he or she didnt give any mention of his or her name but if you need any help just call the hotel straight and talk to Rania or You You and they will provide at least 10 times better service than most of the other staff who usually have black faces every time of the day... Still would return to this hotel because of these 2 awesome staff! Hopefully the rest of the hotel staff can learn better manners and customer service from these 2 gems.…
Just got home from a long weekend at the XO .. what an absolutely great hotel! The tram is literally outside the door and runs every 5-10 minutes right into the centre … it cost us €25 for a tram card and we definitely got our monies worth. The rooms are fantastic and breakfast was delicious Will definitely return to this amazing city and fabulous hotel
The location is phenomenal. It is not at the center of Amsterdam but a 25-30 min tram ride away. The good news is that the tram is literally in front of of the hotel so you can catch one every 10 mins or so. The ride into "downtown Amsterdam" is a great one because you get to see everything. (canals, churches, etc.) Very fun and scenic ride. Great for kids. There are several grocery stores within 2-3 minute walk of the hotel should you need anything. Wifi worked perfectly fine in our room, all appliances worked for us. The area is quiet and safe. The hotel is roomy with a large bathroom. The water pressure is great. I would recommend you book the breakfast buffet at least once because there is a lot of variety. For myself and my two kids (4, 8), we spent 16 Euros for breakfast which is cheap compared to the breakfast places in the downtown area. There is a vending machine where you can buy an umbrella and bus passes! The bus passes are 24, 48, and 96 hr. They have both adult and children passes. The machine doesn't take credit card so have some Euros with you.…
Great welcome with friendly service. Comfy beds with weirdly small pillows. Room amenities basic. Room service poor, cups never washed and drink products( coffee pods, tea, creamer only) not re stocked. Late reception staff unhelpful, struggled to get hot drinks ( which for some reason is difficult in this area) snacks etc. if you need purely a bed and shower this place is perfect. Would stay again knowing what to expect but if you need want ‘ service’ pay a bit extra.
I stayed here for two nights during a business trip to the Netherlands last October. I liked the hotel: modern and efficient, small rooms, but with all the basic stuff needed (the cofffee machine didn't work though). I didn't stay many hours at the hotel because we were on a tight schedule, but it was a very nice and pleasant stay: quiet and comfortable. The only minus I must point out is that they enforce a self check-in/check-out with the entrance hall kioks that is far from being obvious. It was messy as me and my colleagues had a joint booking and we needed help from two employees in order to get the proper check-in done. Only after several attempts did we manage to finally have our desired room keys. Maybe it would be nice if the hotel either make this check-in simpler or go back to the conventional service as this way of doing things doesn't seem to be yet an asset...…
First room had no wifi and fridge didn't work. Replacement room had a broken coffee machine. In 4 days there was no housekeeping in either of the rooms we had. Rooms were otherwise adequately comfortable. When we complained about no wifi in the room we were told that all of the rooms on that side of the hotel had a problem with wifi. Very convenient for tram number 2.
