We were a little worried about staying here, because of bad experiences with the cheaper hotels in Amsterdam, but this place we are totaly in love with and will be returning to next year. Very basic hotel, but very clean, very easy to access, steps not to steep up to room, lots of privacy. Very spacious with the most beautiful...

This hotel is ONLY suitable for exploring the red light district, surrounded by sex clubs, near naked ladies selling themselves in shop windows and opposite the museum of prostitution it is not the place to take your mother, kids or anyone who is not liberally minded If however, you are looking for a hip, warm, comfortable place to rest your...

Was kept awake until 4.30am by revellers in street below despite being on top floor and despite it being cold and wet out there. Bathroom was on other side of corridor to room. No lift, no WiFi in room and furniture rudimentary - bed and wardrobe. No breakfast facilities. Manager required full payment in advance and would give no refund...

A pretty nice little set up with retro wallpaper. Drinks are reasonably priced and the staff are quite polite. Kind of an irritating toilet situation though, you have to go up to the bar and ask for the key to the toilets (men and women's is the same key I believe) which quickly became really tedious. We were a group...

Stayed here with two of my friends a few weeks ago for a two night break, was pleasantly surprised! I wasn't expecting much but booked the hotel for the location but actually found the room was pretty good- clean and very large ! Only downside for us was the shortage of mirrors (only one small mirror in the bathroom) but...

I really enjoyed my stay here. It's right in the centre of the RLD which was pretty cool. But it wasn't noisy which was great. The bed was comfy and the room was quaint. The shared bathroom was very clean. The only problem for me was the wifi. There wasn't any which is a let down

The location is in a very central spot and about a 10 minute walk from the station. Check-in is via the bar, which has a good selection of drinks, wifi and is a good place to relax. The staff, especially Nuno, are excellent. The room itself was not the best. It was very clean, but to get to it involved...

I've never stayed in the Hotel, but the service is second to none! I've been to Amsterdam twice and both times have visited this bar. The Barman (I keep forgetting his name)! Is fantastic! Will help you out whenever he can, tell you about any attractions or anything. Lovely, polite gentleman with very good manners. Keep up the good work!...

I stayed here for three days. The room was clean and tidy. A bit small but Im a single traveller so not a major problem. The bar was a quiet bar but situated right in the middle of the RLD. The only bad point was that I was on top floor which meant carrying lots of luggage up as this...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
