My partner and I stayed at this B & B from 5/11/19 to 5/15/19 at the conclusion of our transatlantic cruise on the Norwegian Pearl! The accommodations were excellent. We had a "private chalet" which was clean & comfortable! The daily breakfast was excellent, served by the two gentlemen who took care of the facility. We were privileged to meet Xavier & her husband upon our arrival and spend some time chatting with them before they left for warmer climates in Spain! This is located in an excellent part of town with many restaurants nearby as well as the public transit trams which are easy to understand! We look forward to returning sometime!
Xaviera and Phillip were fabulous hosts, chatty, welcoming, interesting and helpful. The house is cosy and the breakfast plentiful and tasty. We hired bikes from them too .... the centre is only a five minute bike ride away.
Stayed in the Goliath room with my wife and young son, and had a very pleasant stay. Had the pleasure of chatting with M. Hollander quite a few times and she’s a very welcoming hostess. Her husband Philip had lots of good advice in Amsterdam and was kind enough to drop us at the local train station after our stay. The room is suitable for a couple and child or friendly friend :) The home is very convenient for the #5 and 24 tram to the city and there’s lots of dining choices nearby.
I stayed for three nights at the Happy House. Owned and operated by Xaviera Hollander, the Happy Hooker who owned a cultural moment in the 1970s, this is a cluttered, idiosyncratic, but ultimately lovable landing zone. Bed: Comfortable. I booked the Goliath, which as the name implies is plenty big enough for two people and all the baggage they can drag up the narrow flight of stairs. Goliath comes with its own private deck, a very nice amenity. Breakfast: Satisfactory. Eggs cooked to order, along with the usual breads and cold cuts, orange juice, coffee and tea. Baths: The main disadvantage. Shared, and sinks are way too small. Toiletries appear to be the leftovers from previous guests. Location: Very good. Walkable to Museumplein, where you will find the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and the famous Concertgebouw of Amsterdam. Access to Schipol Airport: Amazing! 30 minutes door to door. Take the train in the basement of the airport one stop to Amsterdam Zuid station, then the #5 tram toward Amsterdam Centraal two stops to Stadionweg. A pleasant five minute walk, and you are at the front door of 17 Stadionweg. Total cost: 4 euros for the train, 3 euros for the tram.…
We had a great time in Amsterdam! Our room was very comfortable in a nice district near the center. The hosts were very friendly and helped us well to orient oneself. I would recommend this housing to anyone!
