Was nicely surprised as the room was nice and clean. The shared shower and toilet was also no different than if you ever lived in shared accommodation. The location is good for touristy stuff. However, if your goal is smoking and red light area then its a bit of a walk ( 15/20 mins). It has a nice coffeeshop next... More

We had a rat running in our room. The place smelt funny. There was mould in the bathroom. The stairs are a nightmare to carry luggage up. When i asked management for a refund on the first night, they were not one bit helpful. Steer clear of this place.

If you look for a very clean place, a comfortable bed, a simple but nice breakfast and, last but definitely not least a great location hotel in Amsterdam, without spending too much money on in, this is the place to stay in. Nice staff!! Just a few steps away from the tram stops. A few steps away from Leidsenplein...and all... More

Me and my friend stayed at the Golden Bear for 5 nights in room 20. This hotel cannot be faulted for the location, within walking distance of coffee shops, nightlife and shops. The stairs are a nightmare in this place, and as two girls carrying a heavy suitcase up the stairs with no help from the reception was hard. We... More

We stayed here for 2 nights this weekend and had a very pleasant stay. The room was a decent size and the bed was huge and very comfy. Room had a TV, fridge, hairdryer, wardrobe, washbasin, desk and chair. Shower and toilet were just outside the room and always clean. Previous reviews mention the stairs and yes they are steep... I stayed here for a couple of nights and regretted that decision the moment I entered the room. I don't know where they got the website pictures from but the room was so dated - yellowing paint and wall coverings etc and very small. I was so glad i didn't have my other half with me as I know she... More

Golden Bear has a very good location, just a 5-10 walking distance to many attractions. Our room was clean and sufficient with a nice bathroom. However, the stairs are very narrow and you have 5 minutes nightmare while carrying your luggages upstairs/downstairs!

I took my husband on a surprise trip for his 40th birthday. This was not our first time in Amsterdam. I read the reviews about this hotel and I am unsure why anyone would say anything good about it. In fact I think the hotel owners wrote the reviews themselves. Our room was located right next to the reception so... More

The location was great, but the state of the room was poor. And it was definitely not cleaned properly, the worst part was the shower and the floor. There was even a bandaid and M&M´s from the last person laying on the floor. People not very helpful, would not stay here again.
