I had a great time at the Hotel Golden Bear in my recent stay in Amsterdam. I stayed in room #31 which had it's own shower and sink but I had a shared toilet with 3 other rooms. The room was a good size and the bathroom was nice but on arrival I did notice the shower was musty smelling....

The golden bear though one of the older hotels is well kept, our room was large clean with a big shower and bathroom and the loo just outside the door. As at the back of the hotel we had none of the problems with noise that other reviews state. We had forgotten our travel plug and hairdryer, the reception staff...

We stayed in this Hotel for 3 nights starting 28th October 2011. Our flights were changed and arrived in Amsterdam at 0930. On arrival at the hotel our room was available which was great. It had an en suite shower and the loo just outside the room , which was fine. Also being at the back of the Hotel we...

Have stayed many times at The Amistad hotel right across the street from The Golden Bear. This time I decided to give this one a try. Given the similar rates for both hotels I expected similar quality. I was wrong, my room was clean, the shared bathroom and/shower was located a few steps from the front door and was kept...

I stayed in The Golden Bear twice this year and like the hotel and it's location. Rooms are clean and there is never a problem with a clean towels. As a place to stay at this location is a very good choice... as long as you don't have to deal with the staff. The only person who knows a little...

We found accommodation in Amsterdam very expensive and so were delighted to find the Golden Bear. Beware though, it is a budget hotel, 1 star rated. Having said that we had a nice large room, comfortable bed, nice sized shower and a mini fridge in our room, plus a large range of drinks (packets) in the room, including soups. Like...

Good value, clean, decent breakfast (cold buffet) and very handy for seeing Amsterdam by foot and of course by boat. Disappointing cool receptionist on arrival, no offer to help with suitcase on those difficult stairs. Breakfast staff was much friendlier. Wanted to charge an extra 2% if we paid by Amex, so we used visa.

I said to my boyfriend one night, "When I'm with you, it's like I'm talking to myself." As weird as that may sound, it just means I feel that comfortable with him. And as with my stay at The Golden Bear, which was a business trip, I felt right at home. I stayed in the top private room for two...

The Golden Bear is a comfortable hotel in the center of the action in Amsterdam. Although ostensibly gay, there are frequently young straight couples staying here. The GB is close -- walking distance -- to almost anything you want to do in Amsterdam. And three major tram lines stop just a three minute walk away. Ten minutes by tram (2...

I did considerable research before selecting this B&B for our short stay in Amsterdam. The one thing I kept coming across in almost every review was complaints about the stairs. I am from NYC so I didn't think much about it. However everything that was said about the small, narrow and steep winding stairs is true. They are tight and...
