This place is a must. On arriving at the establishment you will be blown away by the charisma and charm offered by the owner, you will also be surprised by the level of customer care this hotelier displays. He may not greet you, smile or make eye contact but his happiness lies deep within. If you like your suitcase baked...

The overall experience was good. The hotel is perfectly located in the old town, just 5 minutes from train station, Dam square, red light district and walking distance to other attractions such as flower market, shopping district, and canals tour. If you are not too fussy and demanding the hotel is ok, at the beginning you could have a very...

The only positive of this hotel is it's location, it is less than 5 mins walk from Central station. When we arrived, the place seemed ok, but that soon changed when I asked to cancel the breakfast that we had paid for because we wanted to go out for breakfast. I was told that it was one price for the...

Before the refurb it made and still does make a cheap weekend about as central as you can get in Amsterdam for the price. The staff are always accomodating to our needs wether it...

Stayed for 2 nights over the weekend. Location ideal, bars and food places Located all round. Max 5 minutes walk from the train station. Rooms are quite modern and recently decorated. They are fairly small but that didn't bother us as it's only used for sleeping and a quick shower. Check out is 11am... but we slept in and didn't...

What a great spot to stay. Great staff, nice location, killer stairs but that is to be expected in AMS. Beautiful modern room and bathroom although the bathroom gets very wet from the shower! Comfy beds. Id happily stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend to others.

Great wee hotel. Stayed for 2 nights. The room was small and on the ground floor. It was a double room with private bathroom and 2 single beds. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. Room was cleaned daily and a generous supply of towels left. The room also has a TV. I would defo book here again....

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
