Close to Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum and I Amsterdam sign. Supermarket 2 mins walk. Roughly 45 minute walk to centre but tram stop 2 mins from hotel. Nice clean room with fresh towels everyday. Lots of plugs and comfy beds and nice duvet. Nice bathroom but the door looked like it had been punched and didn't shut properly. Heating in room....

When my fiance and I arrived at the hotel to begin our weekend away together, once we has checked in and got into our room, we found a dirty bathroom which included unclean toilet (urine on the seat) a dirty sink and the bathroom floor covered in shower gel. We had no towels in the room which was probably just...

Lovely hotel. I'm guessing previous bad reviews are from before the renovation? Booked 3 double rooms and they were lovely. Very clean. Spacious. Tv had lots of English channels. We returned from the nightlife at about 5am and never had any issues getting in or smoking outside. Close to tram to get to the centre. Supermarket opposite. I am returning...

Run down and in need of a refurb. I don't even want to think about how old the carpets are! The room smelled really bad. Thankfully the beds were comfy & linen was clean so not all bad. We were only really looking for somewhere to sleep, not to spend any time, and that's what we got.

Average services. If looking for a place just to sleep then is a good location. If after a bit more then may need to skip over this place. Nevertheless, cheap accomodation out the main area. 30 min walk to Dam Square. Close to Rijksmuseum (Must See).

Positives: Fantastic location The checkout clerk was really friendly There was a gorgeous ginger cat sleeping on the counter when we checked out that made our morning much better Not so Positives: Our room smelled incredibly strongly of feet Our shower door was missing, and the drain was partially blocked so it almost flooded We were woken at 8am one...

I visited Helsink for an academic conference and had to stay here because by the time I booked, the most affordable options had already been taken. For an expensive city this is a well organised hostel that is clean with functional facilities. After reading some of the more negative reviews on here, I was on the point of paying the...

Staying over a weekend we paid an average of £30 per person per night - expensive for a private room of 6 for what it was, but the cheapest we could find for the location we wanted. The location is good, 5 minutes from the Van Gogh museum and the IAmsterdam sign which leads you into the centre of the...

We weren't expecting much after reading the reviews and we didn't get much. It is in a good location and lovely neighborhood. Close to the tram stops and museums. The bed was very uncomfortable and the room unbelievably small. Lots of noise hearing people come and go from their rooms. But the linen was clean and we got new towels...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
