My husband and I booked a week-long stay at the Palace B&B for April 2010. Our plans got canceled, however, when the volcano in Iceland stopped air travel. The owner of the B&B, Rudy, was exceptionally accommodating, and allowed us to change our reservation to July--with no hesitation or complaint. When we arrived in Amsterdam in July, our flight got...

GREAT B&B!~ We enjoyed our 4-day weekend over the 4th of July. The room was charming and very comfortable. The location was outstanding, within quick walking distance to some good pubs, restaurants, and nightlife. There is also a full supermarket within two blocks for most anything you'd need. The building was built in the 1600's, so it has very steep...

I'm writing this as an honest review of this hotel. I booked this hotel for 8 nights in May. On the website the pictures show the rooms as these large suites which is exactly what we wanted for our stay. We spend time in on room on vacation and always want more than "just a place to lay your head."...

We chose the Palace B&B as it was in the centre of the city and the rooms looked lovely on the website. They were lovely in reality too. We arrived quite early on a Saturday morning and while I knew we couldn't have our room until later, we left our bags with Rudy in the Hair Salon, which is on...

We can characterize ourselves as spoiled travelers as we usually stay at good hotels. I should tell that we are Israelis and, as known, Israeli tourists have high requirements. It was a problem for us to order a room for two adults & two kids for the whole week at a hotel in Amsterdam as I started this procedure a...

After a long search for a reasonably priced B&B for a weekend in May, we changed upon this B&B. On arrival we were extremely pleased with our choice. Great welcome from the owners, wonderful spacious, airy, well-designed rooms, breakfast delivered to your room the night before (allowing breakfast at any time - bliss!) and a fabulous location - very close...

We stay at the Palace B & B using it as our base for our family break away. The room we stayed in was of a good size and very clean. From the B & B it is a 3 minute walk to Dam Square and no more than 10 minutes to all the other main attractions. Yes the stairs...

I have stayed here twice with friends in the same room/suite. The owner Rudi is always helpful and happy to give travellers advice on what's going on and suggestions on where to visit. The stairs are steep (not uncommon) but easily navigated if you are reasonably fit and able bodied. Once checked in we rarely see the owners unless we...

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
