We arrived in Amsterdam at around 9am and we went to the hostel to leave the luggage in the storage room and they told us in a rude way that we could not be there until 2pm. All we wanted was to leave the luggages but the receptionist told us to hurry up and he did not allow us to...

We arrived there and had an issue with our booking. When i asked for the manager , the receptionist called him and he answered right away but was very mean and didn't care about our issue. They raised the prices and we had to pay an extra 1200EU!!!! The booking should have been 1 room with 8beds. He booked one...

I booked a room for one night (April 10th to 11th) at the Hostel Annemarie, I used a booking that I have used many times before (Hostelword) and I know how this works, but I never had complains until now. I am aware I am paying for a low cost service and I can not expect luxury, but as a...

I want to start out by saying that my group of friends and I weren't expecting much before our arrival. We had read the mixed reviews about this hostel but decided to ignore them, as it was our cheapest option. The man at the front desk was polite when we checked in, and our room seemed to be fine. The...

The ridiculous negative review this place gets on here are unfounded. It is a perfectly acceptable little cheap hostel to get your head down in between days (and nights) out in Amsterdam. It's basic, but what do you expect? I found no issues with cleanliness, staff or any other issues noted on here. Don't go in expecting to be in...

Travelled through Amsterdam and spent three nights here, very safe and good daily starting point. It does feel sometimes a bit far from the downtown but it's location in the Museumplein district is extremely helpful to be able to easily make it to the Van Gogh Museum as well as the IAmsterdam sign. The staff were friendly and helpful and...

Ok so this was my first hostel experience. 5 of us stayed in 12 bed dorm with people we didn't know. Firstly, had best couple nights sleep ever! Which was surprising. Staff very helpful Warning....we booked by card on booking.com but when we arrived at the hostel were told we had to pay in cash, so take your cash with...

I booked at late notice, the hostel offered a bed in a 12person dorm room for one night for less than €15. Located In the museum quarter it's a great spot for culture vultures. Maybe 40 min walk from central station, but with such god public transport, its not as sepearted from the center as it sounds. A friendly hostel...

I wish i properly read the reviews of this hostel before booking. To be clear - i didn't stay at the hostel however they have charged me 160euros for 2 nights that I didn't stay there, despite having tried to cancel NUMEROUS times and being told that everything was in order as the policy allows this. The manager was outrageously...

Okay. This is the third time in two years that I stayed at Annemarie. The name of the hostel makes it sound like a Dutch place but it's run by an old (Spanish?) man that has at least one other hostel in Amsterdam (Orfeo hostel) and clearly 'rules with fear'. The atmosphere in the hostel is okay when he's not...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
