As a family with two (very tall) teenage children, we found our family room to be very generously sized. The kids slept in small bit at one end of the room which offered a little privacy. The shower was good. The room was a little shabby but it was not dirty. Breakfast was good, very simple (cereal, breads, meat, yogurt,... More

Very nice hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were spotless and the beds were comfy. Very close to several museums and Vondelpark. It is a little outside the centre but the tram is only a minutes walk which will take you there in less then 10 minutes. Being outside the centre, the neighbourhood is very quiet,... More

Hotel Verdi is a quick 2 block walk to museumplein, a block from the Opera House and in a beautiful quiet neighborhood with a polite and helpful staff. The short tram trip from the Centraal Station dropped me off 1 block from Verdi. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful with a huge variety of meats, cheeses, fruits, breads, teas, and... More

This was a friendly, clean hotel with good facilities and the customary steep Amsterdam stairs! It is well located within easy walking distance from Vondelpark, the museums and the concert hall. I was especially impressed with the shower which had good water pressure and temperature control in a generously-sized cubicle. The beds were wonderfully soft and comfortable too. Enjoyed the... Hotel Verdi is a quick tram trip from Central Station and easily connects to trams to take you all over Amsterdam. It's a real quiet little spot a few blocks off of a very main street. Once you deliver your luggage it's very easy to take a tram to where you want to go or walk--nothing in Amsterdam is that... More

This was the first hotel we stayed at on our “European Adventure” and it was my favorite. The family that runs the hotel were very polite and gave us tips on the weather when we were over dressed for the day (big bonus when you don’t have a clue on the weather!) The breakfast that was offered had plenty of... More

I had a single room which I originally booked for 2 nights but ended up staying 5. The room was comfortable but was definitely no frills. The location is in a very nice neighborhood near the concert hall and Van Gogh museum. This family run hotel is staffed with caring, kind people. I would stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was lovely. The family who run it are very helpful. The hotel is lovely and clean. Our room was big with lovely big windows. Beds are comfy. The floors are v squeaky so hard to creep round at night. Lovely shower. Beware the stairs as with any amsterdam accommodation. They have a... More

it is a hotel run by an Asian family which means that you are welcomed warmly and seen off like a member of an official delegation, which is quite nice actually and makes you feel like a VIP... Good value for money in a good location. Safe and very close to Rijks/Van Gogh Museums. Also very close to tram line that will take you further into Amsterdam if you don't want to walk. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Room was very simple and small but clean. Concert one night of my stay outside Rijks Museum made sleep difficult... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
