We stayed 3 nights and requested and received a room at the back of the house on the 1st floor(poor knees on my part) and loved every part of our stay. Both owners were very helpful in taking our bags upstairs, pointing out places to eat, getting tickets on line however the Rijkesmuseum did not let us go in with... More

The building is quaint and in a great location. The owners are so incredibly nice and helpful. This is my first visit to Amsterdam and to misc eatdrinksleep -- but it won't be my last!! The steps are a little challenging so don't stay on the top couple of floors if tiny and steep steps are a problem.

We booked misc eatdrinksleep for a 3 night 'minimoon' after our wedding. It was the perfect choice. We arrived before our room was ready but the owner was happy for us to leave our bags while we went for lunch. Upon returning we were shown to our room 'the Rembrandt'. The views over the canal are lovely for watching the... More

We stayed at this hotel for three nights over Easter 2013 (two adults, two teenagers and an eight year old). The breakfast is fantastic. Great care and attention is paid by the super helpful owners to enable guests to make the most of their stay - good maps, good local knowledge and advice. We occupied the two first floor bedrooms,... I could rave for hours about the breakfast but I won't. Delicious and fresh and the tastiest orange juice I've ever had. The owners were very friendly and easy going. The location is great and the rooms are quaint. Would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights at the end of our week long trip through the Netherlands and Germany. I am so glad that it was last because it was the best! Rachel (from Wisconsin) and Pepijn were very welcoming and helpful during our stay. They purchased "fast lane" tickets for us to see the Van Gogh... More

The owners are fantastic people, the rooms are quaint and comfortable and the breakfasts are incredible. I have stayed here twice over the last few years and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. The proximity to the train, buses, food, flower market and tourist sights is very convenient. Wifi and stocked mini bar is nice too, they really take care of... More

This lovely hotel is centrally placed, the room was super with a huge bed and we were even treated to some Prosecco. Rachel is a great font of knowledge and could not do enough for us and recommended some fantastic restaurants and always with a smile on her face. The hotel is in a super position and you can walk... We stayed two nights in this little bed and breakfast and were made very welcome from the moment we stepped inside. Yes, stairs are steep but thanks to Gabriel who took our cases from us and delivered them to our room we didn't have to worry. Clean and comfortable, great breakfast, perfect location being central to everything we wanted to... More

We stayed for two nights in back in Oct 2012. Owners and staff were very helpful. We arrived before normal check-in and Rachel provided excellent advice for places to eat (Puccini's - nearby) and see to get our second visit to Amsterdam rolling. Our room was neat and tidy. Breakfast was great: cooked to order. We would definitely stay here... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
