Peter is great! The B&B is quite close to the Central train station, and within walking distance to all the major sites. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Well, what can i say that hasn't been said already? Peter Boogaard is a gentleman who's attention to detail is second to none. He has spent much time, effort and money making his B&B the best experience you will ever find! Never have my fiancee or I come across such a gem of a place as Boogaard's. Peter prides himself...

All the other positive reviews say it better than I can, but I feel I must try my best. My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights at Boogaard's in the first week of February:- Location - A 5-minute brisk walk or 10-minute stroll from Amsterdam Centraal train station. Lovely, quiet street in the beautiful Jordaan district. Same distance again from...

This is the most comfortable, convenient and pleasant B&B I have every stayed in -- on three continents. Our room was very comfortable, and it was effectively a suite as we had the living room (shared with only one other room) to ourselves. The location is superb, absolutely central, and the house is beautiful. The amenities are outstanding: free wifi,...

A real gem of a place - nice and central, fantastic rooms (with amazingly kitch decor), brilliant breakfasts, two very lovable dogs and a a very lovely owner who was the perfect host. This was a bit of a step up for us price-wise as we normally stay in cheaper places, but it was well worth it. From the moment...

Staying at Boogaard's is like staying at your favorite relative's house. It is beyond outstanding. My girlfriend and I drove up to Amsterdam from Germany. There is a parking garage close to the B+B but I dislike driving in cities. We parked at the Park and Ride at Bijlmer Arena on the edge of the city (only 6 euro a...

Peter has raised the bed and breakfasting bar to new heights - it is now an art form. The warmest welcome on a cold day. A delightful room, tastefully decorated and fuly equipped ( including a beer in the fridge ). The location could not be better. Although only a 5 min walk from the station or to the Dam...

We stayed at Boogaards for a weekend in January 2010. Having read glowing reviews on Tripadvisor there was a bit of a risk that we'd be disappointed with the real thing. But thankfully, the reality was every bit as good as we'd hoped. The B&B is located in a great place - near to the centre, but on a quiet...

We went to Amsterdam for my 31st birthday, and we wanted to stay somewhere special to celebrate. Boogaard's didn't disappoint. It is in a beautiful 600-year old building, full of character and wonderfully decorated. The rooms are lovely, with lots of pillows, extremely comfortable bed, sitting room adjoining the bedroom with lots of snacks including home-made cakes, laptop to check...

Spend 3 nights there on way back from Africa. Very friendly and comfortable. Great location, walked from train station. Great to have a sitting room, with coffee and a few beer supplied. Breakfasts were great and Peter was very friendly and informative. Would highly recommend it. Lance and Linda King, Vancouver BC

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
