The hotel must have been fine.. In 2002. The problem with this hotel is everything is a little off. The rooms are dark, duvet between 2 separate sheets rather than a cover is more of an annoyance than a trend. The room lacks modern luxuries such as a tv with pay per view or a DVD - instead you must...

Just spent a lovely weekend in Amsterdam, helped along by a relaxing stay at The College Hotel. The building created a great first impression, it's beautiful. The staff we encountered were all eager and able to help and very well-mannered. The room very well appointed, clean and comfortable. The bar and outside areas were immaculate and welcoming and the interior...

Great location, nice court yards, average service (by students and trainees, loving to talk with each other rather then guests). Just checked in for a business meeting and coffee, so I can not judge the rooms.

The hotel is interesting and not at all like a chain hotel. The bar is busy and lively, the public rooms contemporary. Most off the staff were helpful and keen to impress and one should allow some leeway given that the hotel is run on the whole by trainees. A major issue was that you really need a qualification in...

We stayed at the hotel while in Amsterdam for a long weekend (4 nights). The hotel is in an excellent location and our room (deluxe) was extremely nice. However, we found the service inattentive at best and rude at worst, which was disappointing. Examples include bringing my husband an omlette when he ordered fried eggs with bacon and mushrooms and...

We went to to Amsterdam to celebrate a special event with my wife. This hotel is cosy with young attentive staff. It feels very homy not like the big chain. The building itself is beautiful, very easy to get there by tram.

We had already booked this before reading the other reviews and so I was not expecting great things. The hotel itself is amazing with a very busy and well staffed bar area which had open fires and a great atmosphere. The outdoor area is also lovely and we were lucky enough to enjoy a drink outside in the October sunshine....

Without doubt a beautiful hotel, both from the outside as well as the inside. Good location too! The rooms are nice too. We had a de luxe room on the top floor. Nice and spacious but no view outside because the two small windows were built against the high ceiling. We were aware that a lot of staff are students...

Beautiful setting, although a little dark in the corridors. Service can be a but slow, but given the staff are all trainees, I will allow them this! Lovely terrace under olive trees, very sheltered. Room pleasant and comfortable with really good coffee machine.

Gabled roof gave our room very tall ceiling and lots of natural light. Loved the feeling of the room Bed was comfortable. Shower has hand held mode and great 'sunflower' gentle spray mode. Staff was very attentive. Had drinks in bar Friday night with group sitting at a comfy sofa & chair cluster.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
