We chose this hotel for its proximity to the museums and its distance from the red light district! With a twelve year old in tow there are some things you don't really want to explain! Anyway, as with everyone and everywhere else we went in Amsterdam, this hotel was friendly and clean. The staff were helpful and the room rate...

The hotel is well located near museums but a swift 20 min walk to centre. Breakfast disappointing with little choice of hot food, cold boiled eggs and dry scrambled egg. Plenty of cold stuff. Tiny notice on table saying ask for eggs etc but only saw on second day and no-one drew our attention to this. Really rude tall waitress...

I reserved a basic single room and was delighted with the spacious room I got on the first floor. Lovely courtyard in middle. Very strong free wifi. Bed and bedding were very comfortable. I had the opportunity to upgrade, and I am very glad I did not - this room exceeded my expectation. Breakfast seemed a little pricey (20 Euros)...

Its a little bit far from the center but its great hotel! Choose the rooms in the 6 floor with the view. Sandra at the registration desk was perfect!!!! She is the best!! Very nice and help us 24/7. Dam its only 2.3 km from the hotel. You have a tram next to the hotel.

Stayed for 3 nights over the Amsterdam Marathon 2015 weekend which coincided with the Rugby World Cup Quarter Finals. Comfortable hotel in a quiet location. We were well looked after. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Buffet style breakfast was fine, but overpriced in the usual hotel way. There are cafes and bars a few minutes walk away for anyone...

We were there three nights during late September 2015. Found the rooms clean and spacious. The less expensive rooms have no view other than an uninviting courtyard. Hotel seems to host several groups and can be a bit loud in the lobby.

Multilingual displays with good explanation from the interactive pods. Good mix of items, art work and historic description. This museum puts a good perspective on what is a city that became a company. An easy paced outline and worth the visit.

Paid for superior room for 3 nights as this was a special celebration trip. Sadly, the only thing that was superior was the size of the room, otherwise below standard. Carpet shabby and stained, no cleaning done over 4 days apart from bed making and a quick refresh of the bathroom. Biscuit crumbs remained on bedside table. Despite large room,...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
