Near Dam square but tucked away down a quiet side street. We walked from central station which with luggage was a hike, suggest catching a tram or cab unless luggage very light. Stylish, modern and reasonably comfortable, though rather dark decoration especially in corridors, first time I have seen a black WC and wash basin. Rather hard chairs in our...

Hotel V is in a really good location just off Dam square. Our taxi had a little trouble finding it as it was in such a small road but it also means it’s quiet. The staff are friendly and efficient and check in was quick. The Comfort room was quite small but nevertheless it was well decorated and felt like...

Liked this hotel as soon as we got to the reception the guy was organised and we were in the room in a matter of minutes. Good location, close to Dam square restaurants and shops. My better half liked the room and bathroom so we were onto a winner. Breakfast was good too and after the waffles at a nearby...

The location is superb and the restaurant they have there is excellent. The hotel is very chic! We had a super room on the 3rd floor with a huge bathroom. Very clean and nice rooms. The staff are extremely friendly and always willing to help and answer every question. It's just off the Dam ( like literally ) just off.

We recently spent two nights in Amsterdam and were pleased with our stay at Hotel V Nesplein. The staff were extremely friendly and were willing to help in any way that the could. The rooms were spacey, although our queen bed was two twins pushed together. We highly recommend eating a meal in the restaurant! Very delicious food. Everything in...

Spent 3 nights at V Nesplein with my bestie, although on the pricey side (but that's what Amsterdam had become unfortunately), I will recommend the hotel over and over... I feel I have found my 'home' in Amsterdam: centrally located next to Dam Square, easy connection to all Amsterdam attractions whether by foot, bike or tram, super comfy and tastefully...

Couldn't decide between here and Swisshotel but glad I booked here. It's incredibly stylish and decor was excellent. Rooms super quiet and it's located on a backstreet two mins from dam square. Bed comfy and not too big a hotel so quite personal. Only negatives are shower flooding bathroom due to design (every time as slope not enough!), kettle can't...

We visited Amsterdam for my husband's 60th birthday. When I asked for a few suggestions for special birthday plans, the staff at the front desk (Sonna, Rogier) were amazing!! They helped plan the perfect day for him. In addition, I got great restaurant and sightseeing suggestions from the folks at the front desk every day. They really made our stay....

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
