Peter is a very nice host, the place is greatly located, the bed is super-comfortable... But I think the room where we stayed has been recently added to the offer and is not really of the same standard as the original one (the one we saw on pictures on the reservation site). Examples: we thought we could get breakfast in... More

Great experience!! Peter, the host, is very careful, funny and kind. The B&B location is great, in the middle of Jordaan, one of the best neiborhoods of Amsterdan and near the anne frank museum. The room is clean and the breakfast is very good.

We stayed with Peter at Since 1634 for two nights in September, 2013. The location, room and service was perfect. Peter is the best host and made us feel extremely welcome in his home. I would recommend this B&B to anyone who wants the personal touch of a home not a hotel. Shane and Marj, Melbourne Australia

We stayed at the 1634 in Amsterdam and had a great experience! There is only one guest room, which was more like a suite. There was so much room to move around in. The room is on the second level and up some winding stairs, but not a problem, as Peter the owner, took our luggage up to our room.... More

The room was quirky with a lot of books and knicknacks, but the bed was very comfortable and i had a good night's sleep. The host, Peter, was very friendly and prepared a nice breakfast of ham cheese, a boiled egg, warm bread rolls and coffee--all delivered to the room. The location was great, less than a half mile to... More

Friendly, thoughtful host Peter made my stay special. I learned something of life in the area from Peter and felt privileged to stay in Since 1634. The room was clean and comfortable with interesting things around. Great to have fridge, microwave & kettle in the room. Breakfast was served in the room which was great because I could look down... Nice e-mail communication, smooth payment via Pay Pal and flexible arrival. Very good location in Joordan within walking distance to downtown and attractions. Peter was a very friendly host who showed us the surroundings and gave tips on restaurants, pub and communication. The stairs to the room was steep and narrow but Peter helped us with the bags up to... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
