I was in Amsterdam for the first time and I have to say I've been lucky with the chosen hotel. It is very good. We booked a superior room with a breakfast and were delighted. The room is not too small as I expected it to be...all newly refurbished and decorated with a big bathroom and a bathtub. The bed...

We were very nicely surprised. Coming to the City Hotel we were expecting the average 2star hotel. The room was spacious and cosy, the bathroom was modern, probably the whole lot was only refurnished recently. The staff members were really friendly, all of them had quite good english. The breakfast was very basic but a sandwich and a cup of...

Me and my partner stopped at this hotel for my birthday weekend for 2 nights . As you walk out the station and hit the main road, turn left and follow it down for 5mins. We arrived at 10am and because our room wasn't occupied they let up check in right away. We stopped in the superior double room on...

About 10-15 mins walk from the central station, this simple hotel is well located. The single bedroom I had in the first floor was modern but fairly basic. Breakfast was disappointing and lacked variety and quality. Staff were friendly and I would probably be happy to stay again.

Stayed for 4 nights in May. Location (near rail station) was terrific, and a good base for exploring the rest of the city by foot. Bed was comfortable. We had a room at the front, so there was street noise. Room was clean and use of space efficient. Shower and toilet clean. Elevator was minute (two people will just fit)...

Booked this as not many options available when visiting for Netherlands v Wales match. Arrived at 9:00 am only looking to leave bags realising too early to check in. However our room was ready and we were able to check in and even invited to help ourselves to breakfast. Can't fault the welcome. Room was in basement but not much...

I stayed in a small single room for 3 nights. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the breakfast served is very good with cold meats, cheeses, eggs, fruit, yoghurt, breads, cereals, juice and coffee and the hotel is fairly central to most tourist attractions including the horticus botanicus gardens. There is also a hotel bar by reception which serves juices...

First off the hotel is in a great location. Close to amsterdam centraal and within walking distance of most things. To start with their is a tiny elevator that doesn't go to the top floor and only has room for one person. We were located on the 3rd floor and without warning had to climb 3 extremely steep staircases with...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
