In early September 2014 my husband and I were delighted to be given a second floor room with a bay window opening out over a canal and bridge. It was comfortable with a kitchenette, and was quite spacious. The staff were all most helpful and we took advantage of their offer of breakfast every morning for the three days we...

we were very happy about the coffee machine and the complimentary coffee that came with the room. an extra capsule of coffee was only 0.50 euro, which also immediately became a plus for us. considering that a cup of coffee around the center ranged from 2.50-4 euros. the room was very spacious, very clean and well ventilated. the staff was...

Loved this place, we were lucky enough to get the top floor room with a small balcony, I don't believe the other rooms have balconies. Staff was very friendly the location was great with lots of good cafes near by and short walk to anything you would want to see

I have stayed here twice. There is a major stench in some rooms. Last time I was moved (so I came back) but this time was impossible. This time I am in a room--and there are several others--directly above a very noisy street. If you close the windows the noise is still pretty loud but the stench gets worse. Stay...

The hotel is located just a short walk from Rembrandtplein as well as the flower market. The room was spacious and had a small kitchenette. The bathroom was not very large, but had a bath tub. Everything was very clean. The breakfast was good.

We could not believe our luck to find such great value in the center of Amsterdam- Clean spacious rooms, floor to ceiling windows with a walkout balcony with an elevator for 125 Euros. This hotel just outside the first canal ring between Rembrantplein and the old Jewish quarter and close to everything else. Streetside at Le Coin is a little...

For the price that we paid (130e per night) we thought the hotel was not worth the money. The room was small, hard to get to with luggage and an odd shape, but it was clean. It is a good location however, 10 mins either way to Dam Square & Remberant Square, I have stayed in many hotels over the...

Great location. Close to downtown area to walk and tram next to the hotel. Very clean. Some rooms are smaller than others. Friendly people and a decent breakfast to get you started. Stayed here for two weeks on business.

We were pleased with the location, helpful staff, and clean, large, bright and comfortable rooms. Our first floor room had a stove, single cup coffee maker, small sink and small refrigerator. The addition of a microwave would have been great, but this is not a complaint. If you are a light sleeper, request a courtyard room. There is no A/C...

Hotel Residence le Coin, Amsterdam was a fantastic hotel in terms of its location and the friendliness of the receptionist. In terms of location, it is right smack in the middle of the city where everything is and is a 3minute walk from the nearest tram stop which is very convenient for us as we took the train from the...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
