No luxoury but we had everything what we needed. The rooms were clean and well-equipped. Our rooms were spacious and everything worked. If you want a quiet room, ask for one facing the back yard. The location is excellent, there's a ship port nearby and the flower market is very near, too.

We were two adults, two younger teens. The family options here were great; we tried two. One is two separate rooms with a connecting door, overlooking the Muntplein. Very spacious for NL with beds, desk and small sitting area by large windows. Small kitchenette in each with two burners, pots and pans, small fridge and (by request) a microwave. Adequate...

Huge room. New bath towel shampoo also phon. There is nothing missing. 4 types of free waffles daily for coffee in the room. Bed and bath washed every day. The lords at the reception are friendly and helpful. The place is very convenient both in daytime, to visit, and in the evening (near Rembrandt Square) but about 20 minutes walk...

Stayed here for three nights in mid April and had two large double rooms. The rooms were huge and offered plenty of space. Beds were a little small as we had singles and I suppose we could've all fitted into one of the rooms and not have to book 2 due to the large size. Rooms were sparsely furnished with...

We had a lovely room with a wide view over the canal and Rokin. The room was big enough that we could sit at a small table by the window and watch the world go by. Other nice touches - there was a Nespresso machine in the room, and a kettle, and a small kitchenette (electric hobs only, no oven,...

Stayed here for a couple of nights with friends in a shared room. Room was a good size with a nice bathroom & small kitchen area. Room was clean and comfortable. The only issue was we returned to the room about 5pm & it was very cold despite turning the thermostat up. Would recommend this hotel to others as it's...

Stayed here for Business in March 2017. Rooms are spacious and clean, breakfast is very good. Staff is very friendly. Downsides: I checked in and left for business, when I returned at 01:00 I couldn't stand the smell in the room. Something must have been wrong with the toilet. Pretty annoying as I was not able to change rooms at...

This is a good hotel in a pretty central location. We asked to change rooms, as we were travelling with our teenage son and we thought the room with the second bed on the mezzanine level would be better suited to our needs. This was achieved in a most friendly and helpful manner by Dimitri. He also suggested things to...

Really liked this little hotel, tucked away on a side street right in the heart of town. The rooms were quiet and comfortable with all mod cons (and even some non-so-mod cons, including a nice writing table!), even if not quite as 'posh' as some other places. Decent breakfast and helpful staff. Recommended if you like straightforward, clean, comfortable, quiet...

The hotel is located excellent when you want to explore the city. Everything is in distance of a short walk. Rooms are well decorated and spacy. The kitchenette has a Nespresso machine, so you can fix your breakfast coffee. Great value for money.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
