Let's start with the cons ... they're so critical is not ... 1) It is the narrow stairs rising to the rooms ... those who have a heavy bag or portfolio Ahd..bamt more difficult and tiring to get his bags. 2) to open the access door to the rooms had to ask the bartender to open the door ... and...

I stayed there last night. The hotel receptionist was quite funny but took a while to check in a group of lads before me. My room was on the top floor and was very hot with no fan provided. The single bed was tiny- suitable for slim short people only. The shared shower room was cramped and the hot tap...

location just around the corner from dam square, and on the street of the red light district so was great being in the centre. most of the staff incredibly rude and unhelpful. shower room/toilet shared between four rooms but was quite smelly and unclean. nothing in the room to put clothes in (chest of drawers would've been nice). only one...

Location wise, this place was excellent, no doubt about that! At first I was a bit taken back to see so many prostitutes close to the hotel in day time and night time (could see one across the hotel from our room) but soon realized how convenient it is located, in the heart of red light district, very central Amsterdam...

First of all, it is important to understand I was there on a stag weekend where budget was important for some of those attending. I am a true believer in the fact that you get what you pay for and write this review in that spirit. The hotel seemed clean, some of the staff were better than others and it...

Stayed in a nice room directly opposite the sex palace and could hear the crowd going crazy at some of the performance. Had a great view of canal and unfortunately a public toilet as well! Overall nice

I stayed with 2 other friends and the staff were nice people, breakfast was nice and simple and it was a very affordable place. Stayed for 2 nights and had a ensuite bathroom and free WiFi. The stairs are probably the only negative thing for me. Steep and tiring after a long day of walking but worth it when you...

Lets be clear here. If you are looking for a hotel to take your wife for a romantic weekend away, this is probably not the hotel for you. If you like luxury, lifts to take your bags up to the room, a concierge service, this is NOT the hotel for you. However if you are looking for cheap, clean accommodation...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
