This hotel is very convientant for many reasons, 1st its only 5 minutes from the train station, 2nd its in the centre of Amsterdam, 3rd you walk outside and there is the street with at least 20 coffee shops, restaurants and bars. From the moment we checked in to checking out all the staff including Robert were very friendly. On... More

The room was extremely tatty. Broken bedside lamp was balanced on a chair. Second bedside lamp had nowhere to plug in without an extension lead. Sofa had ripped cover and stain. Decorations tired. The good news is that this could all be sorted out for minimum expenditire - it just needs a bit of care and attention which would improve... More

The location is perfect to get to everything and all the staff are really friendly. The twin room was like a hallway with 2 beds put into it. Couldn't get past each other in the room it was so small but it didn't take away from the holiday

Me and 3 friends stayed here for the Ajax vs man city football game. Hotel bar area was clean and staff were friendly couldn't fault that at all. Room were very basic and communal shower and toilet is not a nice experience. We only wanted a cheap hotel as we would be out for the 2 days we were there... More

Me and one mate (both 21) stayed here from arrival to leaving every member of staff was helpful always happy to help and did not hesitate to ask if we were ok. We stayed in room 2 one floor up and our bedroom window was on the strip. A... More

Old Quarter Hotel This hotel is terrible! I had a bad experience.  My single room with shared  bathroom was in the 4rd floor, the last. There is no lift and the stairs and their steps are so narrow that i didn't get to climb the stairs up carrying my bagagge. I had to leave it in the baggage room, in... More

We booked this hotel primarily for its central location. The hotel is upstairs from a pub/restaurant. There's a very cute black and white cat that welcomes new visitors! We paid 80eur a night for 3 nights in a 2-bed room. The room was very long and narrow, and the beds were arranged vertically. The room was sufficiently clean, had no... More

The best part though, is being the central location one minute from Cafe's and redlight, And the staff, friendly, courteous and helpfull. Overall a... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
