Excellent location. The staff is really kind. The bar next door is really good and everyone staying at the White Tulipe has 20% off. Overall is a normal hostel, but these things I mention made my experience there lovely.

The Hostel is situated in the heart of the heart of Amsterdam, so a huge plus. It is not that nice inside, bud the beds are clean. We stayed in a room with 10 beds(I think) so it is noisy in the morning when everyone wakes up at different hours. We had a discount to the Irish pub near the...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night during our most recent backpacking trip. I had not been to Amsterdam before and wanted to stay down town. This hostel was in a very central location, close to train stations, restaurants and bars. Our room was on the third floor and it was very warm! There was a church chime/bell...

My partner and I got a lot less than we expected with this place in terms of amenities. To be fair the whole place was under construction I'm sure it's better now. Steap price for sharing a room with 14 people. Subpar bathrooms and no kitchen or much of a lobby area. We had an overnight issue with some of...

Stayed here recently in a 4 bed private dorm... and gee am i glad we were close friends to begin with because this room was so tiny we were basically on top of each other. The rooms were dirty and ceilings stained of smoke. The lighting was so dim to get things out of our bags at night we had...

First of all, you should expect very less in cheap price for such a location in Amsterdam. Yes, it is just at the "De Wallen", not even a 1 min walk. You step out of the hostel, it is there. Moreover, a decent priced Irish pub is attached to the hostel (and it gives 20% discount for the hostellers of...

Staying at this hostel for my first few days in Amsterdam was a good experience. I was near to the centre of the city, and that gave me access to all kinds of requirements plus all the touristic spots as well. The hostel was clean and the breakfast offered was pretty decent too. We stayed in a private room and...

Just needed a place to sleep and this did the job perfectly. Hostel staff were lovely and the beds were comfy. Lockers under the bed was very spacious and would have fitted a bag bigger than what I brought. Internet was not fantastic at certain times as anyone could access it but was reliable enough to chat to people back...

Fun staff with lots of humor. Great bartenders but watch out for the alcohol vol. in the local beers that they serve. Beds were ok, rooms had lots of outlets. The hostel was pretty clean and they cleaned it every day. Shared bathrooms/showers but it was still quite private since you could lock the doors. Over all we hade a...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
