We are just back from our weekend break in the wonderful city of Amsterdam and we stayed in the hotel Doria. The first thing you notice when you come in is the smell of Grass, so if you don't mind this ( we didn't) we also encountered a very friendly guy at reception. The rooms are very basic but clean...

A basic hotel but with an ideal location just off Dam Square. Which was my reason for choosing this hotel. If like me location and value for money are more important than luxury and frills then it comes recommended.

The room and corridors were extreamly stink of Ganja/cigaretts smoke at all times. Rooms are old and average-clean. Ruben from reception was nice and helpful.

Would definetely recommend this hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel only 10 min walk from station, awesome value for money. Brilliant en suite facility. Room otherwise quite plain but when you're out exploring Amsterdam, you don't need glamourous really. Definetely staying here when I go back!

Hotel is on the great location, can`t be better for that price, rooms were clean, but small and very basic. All hotel stuff were very friendly and ready to help. Breakfast was also basic, but we could bring our coffee to the room with no problem! This is not a hotel for non-smokers! Our room didn`t have the window on...

When you book this hotel it says small single beds in the description . The beds are normal single beds and quite comfy. It's the room that's small not a lot bigger than the beds themselves. The wifi in the room was terrible I had to stand in the corner of my room next to the door to get a...

I was on holiday with 2 of my friends and found this hotel to be basic and pretty clean, just as i was expecting, It had comfy beds and came with extra pillows. The shower however was not the best and was pretty weak. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi and breakfast(which i didn't have) This...

really bad value. too dirty and too small rooms for that price. 60 euro for a single including breakfast. I wouldn't complain if the price were 35-40 euros. very noisy employees early in the morning. location is ok, if one really wants to stay right in the center.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
