Location of the hotel is very good if you like walking. Also very close to the hotel there is a tram station. I didn't use trams but I recommend using trams to use your time in the city efficiently. 15 min. to rembrandplein, 25 min. to dam square and 30 min. to central station by relax walking. I have stayed...

Upon arrival, although we were late, we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff. Ronald i think his name is (apologies if wrong). He checked us in and then went through some sight seeing information on a map. We went up to the room, if you have problems with knees or legs then i would advise staying on...

For a 2 star hotel this place way exceeded all my expectations,it was far better than i expected it to be,my double room was huge, far bigger than any double room ive ever stayed in in amsterdam before, was spotlessly clean, close to the trams/zoo and a few sites of historical interest( the old jewish cultural quarter) It was also amazingly quiet....our room...

Loved everything about my stay and was very pleasantly surprised at how much space I had for only two stars. I've stayed in 3 star places that were awful compared to this place; poky, grubby and horrible beds. My mattress was new and perfect for my back, and the room superbly clean and roomy enough to have slept two. Quiet,...

This small boutique hotel in the quiet suburb of Plantage was inexpensive, but located very close to the centre of Amsterdam. It is very close to the tram stop of Mr Visser, in the vicinity of Rembrandt Plein. Opposite the Hortus Botanicus (botanical garden), it is in a very quiet area. There is a very good coffee shop/restaurant on the...

I stayed there with my parents in a 3-person room. The location is super convenient: very close (10-15 minute walk max) to pretty much everything you want to see in Amsterdam, but without any of central Amsterdam's noise -- the hotel is in a quiet street next to a park. In addition, one of the sightseeing bus's stops is right...

Me and two friends shared a triple room for a long weekend away. This hotel was a lovely surprise - spotlessly clean with beautifully comfortable beds. Our request for a room at the back of the house was fulfilled, and it was so quiet for a city centre hotel - we could hear birds singing more than traffic or street...

We were a party of 4 and rented the quad room at Hotel Parklane. The room is one flight of stairs up, very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. Provided breakfast was very good with wide selection. The neighborhood is quiet and on the out skirts of city center. Easy access by tram to any place in the city.

Found this hotel with easy following the directions on the website.... getting the number 9 tram from central station which stops not 2 mins walk from the hotel. The hotel is very conveniently located just outside of the city centre which is about a 20 minute walk from Dam square or 30-40 mins if your a slow walker and looking...

A friend had booked this hotel for me and I was not sure what to expect based on the price but was pleasantly surprised. I had a room with a single bed thankfully on the first floor (2nd floor to Americans) and the stairs were quite steep (but not as bad as the "ladder" steps I later encountered in a...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
