We stayed at the City hotel in June 2013 and had a really good stay. The rooms are very spacious and we had a good view. We stayed on the third floor so climbing the stairs was a bit of a challenge but it was definitely worth it. It's common in Amsterdam not to have lifts. The bathroom was spectacular....

I loved the location, it is literally near everything (directly on Rembrandtplein, next some of the biggest clubs!!) The room was spacious, considering I travelled with three girls of my age (18) so we all had alot of stuff. Also we had a smoking-friendly room and sometimes we could smell marihuana from the rooms next to us. The biggest drawback...

I stayed from the 28th of February to the 4th of March. I am thoroughly impressed with the service I had received here at City Hotel. The gentleman who owned this was very helpful and welcoming, with two beautiful French Bulldogs to match! The hotel is in a great location, with 10 minutes walking distance to the Red Light District,...

“Room at the back will be more quiet”

“Because of the location it is loud, so if you're looking for peace and quiet, then i do not recommend this hotel. But I have to recommend it BECAUSE of its location. There is life outside. You see it, hear it, and smell it. We stayed in room 26 (unfortunately I do not know which floor it is on) this room had a very small balcony on the corner of the building and a very small ledge on all windows that wrap around the room (hence the noise). The bathroom in the hotel was simple and clean (a total bonus for a woman). The lights are motion activated so if you're just sittin' there or chillin in the shower, they will turn off suddenly. We did not have breakfast at the hotel so i cannot say what was served or how it was. All-in-all, it was a good hotel, decently priced (at the time), and the location is choice.”
