The hotel is in a good position (close to tram stop, at 600 m from the metro station and at 20 min from the city main square), but it is too expensive for its standard. The room was clean, but without a table to work or to use the PC. After the first night nobody will clean your room (and...

For a city trip this was a very very good hotel. Not very luxurious but as we only stayed a night it did not matter. In fact it reminded me of the good old dutch hotels in the old times. Squeaky narrow corridors and narrow walkways. I loved it! Staff very friendly and the reception offers a lot of tourist...

Been to Amsterdam many times and this was a weekend away.... I found it really tough finding a reasonably priced hotel in the city centre and this seemed ok.. The entrance and steep stairs are a bit of a surprise as is the reception area. However, the hotel room was tired, carpets and curtains didn't match or close. But the...

Probably the only hotel in Amsterdam you can get a room for smokers. Fine bed. Restaurants and cafés near by the hotel. Nice area. Very easy transportation by trams, which is great for coming and going, but not so great for a good nights sleep. The hotel is a bit worn down, could do with some paint.

Our stay was very good except we didnt like the fact that the booking is none refundable. The stairs are not Practical if we have suitcases. But overall we enjoyed our stay and we liked the hotel!!!!!

A lot of space in our room of 5 . Very good location , good price . The hotel is perfect for a cheap city break. The only thing we did not enjoy was the late check in . We had to wait till 3pm. Good hotel , recomand it.

Me and my partner are staying at the plantage as we speak, I read reviews before coming and must admit I was a little worried, however there was no need..... Stairs are nowhere near as steep and as bad as people say, yes there is no breakfast or tea and coffee in room but there is a good selection at...

We were happy with our stay at the Plantage. The room was clean and quiet. The only complaint was a constant puddle of water on the bathroom floor from a leak somewhere. The area was lovely and we managed to find a coffee shop open at 8.30 every morning, 10 mins walk toward the centre of town. We found out...

I was not expecting anything fantastic from the Hotel Plantage because cheap hotels in Amsterdam generally mean one thing:GRIM. So it was a pleasant surprise to find that it turned out to be quite charming. For the money I paid (€164 for a two night stay, single occupancy in a twin room) the room was just fine, I was on...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
