June is high season in Amsterdam and we were lucky to get a room, so I was happy with this choice. Run by 4 people, who you see at different times doing different things, the house is like a converted home. The rooms are small but personally decorated with wonderful views on the canal. A quiet spot, near the theatre,...

The rooms were clean, small bathroom (only a shower), the rooms look out into a canal (nice view), but there are a couple bars across the canal that are extremely loud all night long. You have to keep the windows open since there is no A/C. Overall the place has a smell of cat pee, luckily, inside our room was...

Three of us stayed here in June (peak season) after recommendations from the tripadvisor website and whilst the rooms were tiny, the staff more than made up for it by being so friendly and helpful. We were offered a beer on arrival (free!) and the 10 euro breakfast was sensational - very good value for money. Not your usual continental...

My husband and I found this hotel delightfully situated as it is 5 mins walk to the red light district , restaurant sector and nightlife but far enough away to avoid being constantly woken by revellers till the early hours. It is 15 mins walk from the train station with bags. Our room had a beautiful canal view and two...

Of the many budget hotels that I've stayed, this was a terrific one. Clean, comfortable, and very pleasant staff. Outstanding location (right on one of the canals), and a great coffee and bagel shop around the corner. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, with down cover and comforter. An A+ experience....I'd recommend it to anyone.

The Hotel Eureka was perfect for our stay in Amsterdam in every way. The location, friendly staff, and comfortable accommodations exceded my expectations. The hotel is located in the heart of the city along the Amstel, and being an old canal house, staying there was an experience in itself. Almost every major tourist attraction along with numerous restaurants and shops...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
