The hotel is central to everything - station 10 mins flat walk, dam square 5 mins walk, canal 2 mins walk. Room was adequate, nothing special, just a very basic room, very spacious and really really high ceilings!! Breakfast was down spiral stairs in basement - self service, again basic but adequate. The downside was the noise - obviously this...

The location of the hotel is perfect, right in the center of Amsterdam, across the street from the shopping district and close to the main train station as well. The room was comfortable, with a double bed (not a full double IMO, though, it was quite narrow for two normal-sized adults) but the pillows were very big and very hard....

I didn't like the fact that the shower has no tub. I like it because: location, right in the center, very close to public transportation. Staff extraordinarily helpful. Room - spacious enough, very clean, warm. Towels were changed daily, linen immaculate. Breakfast - OK, basic (cheese, sausage, boiled eggs and scrambled eggs, fried bacon, yogurt, milk, tea, coffee, jam, butter,...

I booked the room for 3 nights and paid 500 EUR. Thought, it's going to be a good and relaxing stay in this hotel. Unfortunately, room was very awful (considering its price), poorly equipped with shower gel etc. What is even worse, this room I was given was in the pavement and getting rest there was impossible. Window was next...

Room on 3d floor, there's a lift don't worry. We booked for the quiter side of the street. Nice room, specious enough for 2, made a lot of shoping and had lotsa bags ;-) some sewer smell hitting the bathroom sometimes. 2 minutes calm walk to Dam sq. Best location I'v ever had in all my traveling experiences. לא כולם...

The hotel is really well positioned. It is about a ten minute walk to Central Station and within easy reach of everything. The rooms are clean and have everything you need. The staff are very friendly/helpful and there is a good selection of food for breakfast. I would definitely stay there again.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
