Wow! that's one way of describing how we where received by the friendly staff of this hotel. As we entered this historical building a gentleman at the door with a big smile welcomed us home. We immediately felt a sense of belonging. As we made our way to the reception area we saw this beautiful display of violins hanging in...

Overall wonderful hotel: historic building, spa (swimming pool), location, rooms, service and food. Its best feature are the big and aery spaces in both common areas (lobby, restaurants etc) and rooms. Amsterdam luxury hotels in historic buildings are mostly mousetraps, very narrow and suffocating premises. The only low is the overheating in the rooms so that airconditionig must be switched...

My family of 4 arrived early in the morning at around 10.30 and were heartily greeted by the front doorman who pointed us in the direction of the reception & lobby and quickly communicated our name through to reception while taking our luggage from us. The main stairway entrance was spacious and grand with all original features of this period...

We ate in the lobby restaurant of this fabulous hotel arriving without a reservation and despite being pretty busy at 230pm we were found a very comfortable table for two. The Conservatorium is the place to stay in Amsterdam! Located next to the Van Gogh Museum and walking distance from the busy downtown area, this hotel was a treat. Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
