I stayed couple of days at the Bulldog; i just wish I stayed a couple of days more. Absolutely stunning place exactly at city centre on the canal side; nothing more that you can ask for. Rooms and wash rooms were very neat and clean; with power socket and reading light for each bed and a locker nearby. Eventhough it...

Great to hear you had a nice time with us :) The thing that sets us apart in price, is that we are not asking for money from our guests all the time, you get towels free, wifi free, breakfast free, luggage storage for free, not to mention the best hostel bar around. So we think the value we offer...

We recently stayed at the bulldog hostel and loved our time there. The staff was very helpful, polite and friendly and really took care of each guest. The breakfast is decent and the downstairs bar is homely but the food could be better. So u rather eat out. The dorms are clean and toilets are bearable. The bulldog cafés and...

ahh food. Always one of the most subjective aspects of the hostel. Fortunately, even if our food is not to your liking (we think its delicious) , there is no shortage of great places to eat here in the very centre of Amsterdam. We're happy you enjoyed your stay.

I stayed at the Bulldog for 3 days and had a great time. Checking in was easy with the incredibly gorgeous Italian lady at the desk. The room was fine, shower was okay and I met a lot of fun people in the bar. The location is great also. I would definitely stay again.

Outstanding customer service, there's a lot of space in the rooms, rooms are pretty clean and great environment. I would definitely come back in my next visit to Amsterdam. I want to mention Katrina customer service was above and beyond my expectations she is extremely helpful.

We arrived late in the evening, 8 of us. The staff were very helpful and accomodating and seemed to recognize us by sight immediately, even the bouncers. My friend smoked a bit too much on the first night and one of the bouncers gave him some sugar water and helped him recover. We got all the info we needed and...

One of the best hostels i've ever been. It has all the crazy environment of Amsterdam, but overall it is a great space to meet cool ppl, even more if you are travelling alone. There is a great Cafe inside the hotel and great rooms though.

Stayed here from 7th Aug for 3 nights. Had a fantastic stay! You won't go wrong staying here, you're pretty much in the midst of everything. Stayed here with some friends, we had private rooms, which where clean and had the benefit of Air con (a plus!). People staying get access to a private bar, which is nice for just...

The bulldog is a great hostel for backpackers the rooms are pretty standard with lockers and a bathroom and the set up makes it easy to meet people. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is that incredible I plan to return in September. It is also a very safe hostel with entrance only allowed via showing a pass. The...

It has a perfect location in the heart of Amsterdam. Any place you might think about is reachable. Breakfast is its only draw back, but food is the last thing you think about while in Amsterdam. I kept eating french fries for 3 days and it didn't have any problem.

I guess a few visits to the gym might be in order after 3 days of nothing but fries! Thanks for the review. Safe travels.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
