We stayed here for 2 nights I must say the location is fantastic if ur planning to stay all night in red light district. Its a few minutes walk from shops, café and china town and restaurants. the downside of this hotel is that at night you can hear the noise outside the street and also you can smell the...

Thank you for your review , We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We can absolutely agree with your review. This is the busiest part of Amsterdam and in the redlight district, noise on the streets and weed are ever present. For many it is part of the charm and an experience unlike anyplace else. Safe Travels.

Clean throughout, friendly helpful staff in the bar and reception. We stayed in a female only 8 bed dorm, room was warm and clean, as was the bathroom and toilet. The bar/restaurant is very busy day and night but has a great atmosphere. Very reasonably priced, 5/10 minute walk from central station and the next street along from the red...

I think this hostel is a bit overrated. It is definitely far from a five star hostel. They make you leave your passport or ID at the front desk during your whole stay, as if you were a teenager and you were going to break the rules. I stayed with my boyfriend for three nights. We booked a private room...

Hello, First off- I apologize profusely that a maintenance worker entered your room. This is completely unacceptable and we will look into the matter. It is interesting how such a thing can make other things seem worse than they are. I would, however, like to mention some of your other points. 1. You are not required to leave your passport...

Thank you so much for saying this. We are happy to welcome all travelers, regardless of race, nationality, colour, religion, age (except you pesky kids! ie 18+ only), sexuality or any of that other nonsense people use to differentiate us all. We firstly had a rude encounter in the lounge bar after someone had knocked over a table of drinks staff seemed to take it out on everyone else, we were first refused to be served then told we couldn't sit there without a drink !!!! We booked the apartment for 4 and had a room for 4 in the hostel...

As can be seen in our many reviews, our staff take great pride in being kind to our guests. When you operate a hostel, you encounter both the good and the bad in people. Its part of what keeps our jobs interesting! But based on not being served in our bar, the condition of the room and the illegal substances...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
