This was possibly the worst hotel I ever stayed in. The view of a canal from the window is the only good thing I can recommend about this place. It smelled bad, the stairs go straight up, there is no elevator, there is no one at the desk in the evenings or at night, it is old and run down,....

We stayed here for 4 days in May and sadly, it is the worst hotel we have stayed in in Europe for the last 20 years, In addition , Rick Steves hotel recommendations are not what they used to be. For fifteen years his recommendations were always good, lately they have not been doing their work. The good: It's on...

The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location. As previous reviews stated this is an older canal house, the stairs are steep, we were aware of that when we booked. We stayed on the 4th floor, the room is nothing like the pictures, very small, dirty walls and carpet, the phone has been removed and there...

Hi! My friend and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in May 2017. We stayed in a bunk bed room on the top floor. The stairs are a little steep since the hotel is a traditional Dutch house. You get used to them after climbing the stairs 2 times. The room was small, but spacious enough for both...

I had a double room which was unbelievably tiny. No place to put even a small bag without having to completely repack it and put it away every time you need something out of it. Ants in the room. Walls and carpet are filthy. View into a light well. Staff was friendly-ish but not very knowledgeable even about top attractions...

The room was really small, old and dirty with very poor maintenance: dirty walls, curtains and carpet, althought the bed was clean and confortable. Our room was on the first floor and with the window to the inside of the building: when we opened the window there was the chimney from the kitchen (weird smell sometimes and really dirty). The...

On the whole, the hotel did the job of having somewhere to rest your head for the night and have a nice little breakfast in the morning. It was in a great location, right in the city and easy access to most places we wanted to visit. Rooms are fairly small but generally clean and bed was comfortable.

The hotel itself looks nothing like the pictures at all, me and my partner were quite disappointed when we arrived outside, it looked tired and run down, but we remained positive! The staff were all very friendly, telling us about the attractions, how to get there etc which made a good start to our trip. The interior of the hotel...

My experience at this hotel was very unpleasant, we booked a room for two people and the room is barely fit for one person. The room was extremely small leaving us with absolutely no space to place our luggage anywhere in the room. The hotel price was expensive and the staff treated us very badly. The only advantage to this...

- Location is good BUT - We paid the whole booking online and the owner refused to give any refund just because after we had seen to room so we were forced to stay there - Since they had the credit card details, we were fined 150eur automatically from VISA for smoking in the room when we were only smoking...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our small hotel is situated in a beautiful canal-house that is over 300 years old, nestled on the quiet, picturesque Singel, the oldest of the four major ring canals in Amsterdam's famed inner city. Our cosy hotel offers an oasis right in the centre of town. The hustle and bustle of the shopping streets around Dam Square, the charm of the myriad canals lined with 17th-century houses and world famous sights, such as the Anne Frank House, are all literally steps away. There are also convenient trams and other public transport options to whisk you off to all of the city's many attractions. Room information: the hotel offers 13 double and single rooms and one triple room. We serve a good continental breakfast-buffet in our light and pleasant breakfast room. Rooms are ready for check in at 14.00 o'clock. If you arrive earlier we can store your luggage until then. We look forward to have you as our guests! ... more   less
