This is a quirky little hotel with a train theme. We went there with our two children aged 6 and 8 and they totally loved it! The breakfast is very yummy and the breakfast room is filled with train memorabilia. the room had an interesting design with the children on the top level, there is a steep ladder/staircase up to...

Great location to the train station - surprisingly! Excellent staff who were always friendly and clean room everyday. Nice breakfast with plenty of fresh options and lots of choice! Only issue was the bathroom gets slightly soaked when you take a shower as it isn't enclosed but only a minor problem.... Special thanks to the staff, the nicest people I...

A chic railway themed hotel in an excellent location. Be warned that the rooms are tiny. You are advised of this when you check in. Solution....go see the sights. It is not conducive to spending much time in your room.

If you're on a budget then this quaint little hotel is more than adequate. The location is excellent, easy to find and very central - within very easy reach of most of what Amsterdam has to offer. Our room (no 208) consisted of 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with 2 singles and was clean and...

This hotel is all about its location and theme. It is incredibly close to the main railway station, and has capitalised on that with its name and railway memorabilia from every continent. If you like that kind of thing (which I do) it is a good place. Do not expect spacious luxury rooms though. Location: brilliant for the station (and...

Really what we were looking for was a hotel close to the station. This certainly is, plus it looked like a fun place to stay. Although Jay at reservations felt we may need the use of the luggage room as we had a number of cases, and he warned us the rooms were not huge we found them fine by...

The A-train hotel is conveniently located near the Central station. You can actually see it as you step out of the station. Nothing fancy about this hotel but it was very decent. We booked a family room which was split over two levels: a double bed on the lower level and two separate beds on the upper level accessible by...

We have stayed at the A-Train Hotel for 4 nights recently. It is located at 2 minutes walk from the Amsterdam Central Station and the main tram junction in town. The first amazing surprise is the beatiful pictures on Indian trains you can find at the entrance and all sort of curious items related with trains decorating the lounge. It's...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
