Cheap and cheerful, rooms good for the price (ask for the 2 bed 1st floor in the annex - a converted apartment with large sitting room 50 inch tv and great view of the street). Annex is further down the street over 2 bars!

Great breakfast friendly and helpful staff. Very secure with photographic I'd required to access the hotel. Lovely bar and restaurant downstairs. Rooms are very large and spacious and clean. There is a small lift but the number of corridor and staircases may to access the rooms which many are on split levels may make it difficult to access for the...

Third visit to the Prins Hendrik and will not be the last. The rooms are larger than average and the breakfasts are better than most. The only downside is that it can be loud outside in the middle of the night.

Excellent position few steps by the station and very central. Room reasonably clean. Mattress too soft. Room absolutely too noisy, especially at floor 1 with Windows facing a busy street, hard to sleep till 3 am. No hair dryer in the room... I would choose something else 100%. Price is quite low (130€) but does not match the expectations

I stayed here with 4 friends in March, absolutely loved it, The room could have done with a slight update but it was clean and tidy, 6 beds all freshly made and a view of Amsterdam Central station. It is a 5 minite walk to the red light district and so close to the centre. Staff were very very friendly...

We were on the fourth floor, big room plenty ventilation. Unfortunately the lift was out of use and the stairs were very steep. Night porter and staff were helpful and the location is excellent Room could have done with a clean and I was covered in dozens of small red bites from night one

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
