This hotel is in an excellent location for exploring amsterdam, being right in Dam Square means your not far from anything. The entrance is slightly tricky but eventually you lead into an open and decorated of the time, Lobby area. The rooms are a good size for hotels in Amsterdam, but falls when it comes to providing 21st century amenities...

Nice staff - no facilities - no air con, as a result one needs to have windows open, and due to excellent location it is very very noisy till 5am!! Ok if you are partying not if it's a business trip!

Everything was perfect . Location - the best, practically on Dam square and not far from railway station Amsterdam Centraal. Room - big enough, clean and quiet (inside yard view) , very good bathroom with a new equipment. And wi-fi in the room was excellent . There are elevator, luggage room (free) and tea- and coffee machine (1 euro) at...

Superb location... An excellent breakfast which sent us out every day with quite a satisfied tummy. Staff was very helpful. We were in Amsterdam in another hotel on the first half of our stay and at RHO the second half. When we asked if we could just leave the luggage till check in time they straightaway let us check in...

Semi budget hotel right smack in the middle of Amsterdam. Have stayed here several times and keep coming back, has to say something about the place. Hotel is in what was and old and beautiful bank. The staff is friendly and very helpful, and always on duty. Rooms are spartan, not large but up to date and very clean. They...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
