Yes, we spent a pleasant stay in Amsterdam and Rho hotel accommodation has been largely the cause. Splendidly located in the center of Amsterdam, well connected, comfortable rooms, a hearty and varied breakfast in a spacious living room, with no waiting or crowds. Rooms relatively simple but complete, with proper bathroom, no frills but without missing anything and, above all,...

Stayed here three nights in March. Fantastic location just off Dam Square and you can walk to virtually all of the major tourist attractions from the hotel. Hotel spotlessly clean and reception staff very friendly. Breakfast included with good choice. We had room on third floor at the back of the hotel. One of the reception staff recommended this as...

Stayed here for 2 nights with another couple & we were all so impressed . The reception staff were particularly helpful & friendly . Breakfast was excellent .Our bedrooms were basic but comfortable. Lighting in rooms very dim but they immediately replaced a faulty bulb. Location was perfect . We will highly recommend to all our friends .

Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a centrally located hotel but located just far away from the main streets not to get disturbed by passing crowds. Really helpful staff were more than happy to book us in early so we could use our rooms as soon as we arrived. Accommodation was very clean and comfortable & even the...

right off of dam square, 10 minutes to the central train station (amsterdam centraal), and fairly centrally located so if you don't mind walking you can get to many key sights. the halls, while clean, feel a little out of date, but the room was completely comfortable and modern and warm with a very large bathroom with a deep bath...

The rooms were quite spacious and were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. Lovely choice of cereals, croissants, fruit and bread. It is also...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
