The hotel is great and in the centre of Dam Square great for the nightlife. We were First floor and the corrodors were like a maze but it was fine. It had a lift that was even better... Its got a vendling macheen so if you wanted a can of beer, pop, or snacks it was just right... The hotel...

The hotel is nice and comfortable for a city break. It has a prime location near Dam Square and a few minutes walk from Central station so there's no need for a taxi or any other transport around the city. All the attractions are within walking distance. Special thanks to reception staff ( so pleasant and understanding!) who listened to...

Hotel have good location. Easy reach from central station. Lot of places is very close to hotel. We were satisfied with location. Room was good and clean. Beds were good and comfortable. Breakfast was good enough. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bonus was coffee for free in lobby in the evenings. Down side was - not very good sound proof....

Staff looked after us throughout the hotel, I would certainly stay there again. It is located in Dam Square only 10 mins walk from the mainline station and central to all the tourist places you may want to visit. The hotel is basic but comfortable. Breakfast sets you up for the day. If you are intending a visit, I would...

We stayed here for six nights. Our room was on the top floor at the back of the hotel, so noise was minimal, even with the windows open. It was spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable, with windows that opened to let in some air. The free internet worked well and we used it a lot. The location can't be beat....

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. We had a 3 bed suite which was huge. The suite was very clean and the beds were so comfortable. The hotel is a bit dated but the location just off Dam Square made up for this. We stayed on a B&B basis, the breakfast was fine with plenty of choice including...

Have just spent 4 nights at the RHO. Just off Dam Square so great location. We arrived early so took advantage of the left baggage area to drop off and explore the City, we were asked to come back at 3 o'clock which is a bit strange when checking in is 2 o'clock. A lovely reception area which dates back...

Great hotel and helpful staff. Very central, 10 minutes walk to central station, beside dam square. This is and old building (theatre) . Only thing that I could complain was outside noise but that was just because we were just above junction of two streets and we were on the 2nd floor. Room was good but a little cold at...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
