First, this is more like a B&B than a hotel. Get buzzed into the lobby (actually just the front hall) and you are greeted by Roel or Kees de Haas. No muss, no fuss in spite of booking for one and showing up with my wife. Only one block from the Van Baerlestraat stop for tram lines 2, 5 and...

nice and small hotel, run by a friendly family in the museum quarter. Good free wifi included. Easy to get there by tram no 5. Beds are a bit small, but good quality. Nice breakfast too with fresh eggs, fruit, coffee and baked pancakes.

Sadly, I was forced to cancel our trip due to a life altering diagnosis of cancer in my family so we never got to stay at this hotel. I emailed management and explained the circumstances of my cancellation and they were very kind and graciously cancelled our reservation without penalty. While my families life is forever altered it is nice...

Hotel Fita provides a lovely breakfast (don't forget to try one of their homemade pancakes - yum!) Comfy beds and a great shower. Staff is lovely. Very helpful. This moderately priced hotel provides good value in a great location.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights and were so impressed with the location, quality and staff/owners. Such a quiet setting, staff so friendly and helpful and the rooms and bathroom were excellent. The breakfast pancakes were like "the cherry on the icing". We would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here with my girlfriend for two nights in February. It is a small, cosy, family run-style hotel with 20 rooms. You even ring the doorbell when you check in! The 197 bus from the airport stops a few minutes walk away. The Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh, Modern art and the IAmsterdam sign are all very close. Walking to the...

Lots of things to like! Small hotel offering personal service, very friendly owner. So much nicer than staying in large, anonymous hotels. Excellently located - great for museums and nice to come back to a quiet area after the busy city centre. Plenty of good restaurants in the local area too. Although walking into the Centre is no problem, plus...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
