Having trundled through the 100s of Web sites and reviews of amsyetdam hotels we finally settled on this one. They wee very helpful, answering numerous questions before we arrived via email. On arrival, we were able to check in early , which was a good surprise, the room on first appearance seemed smaller than on the pictures, but all accounts...

I stayed here for four nights with a friend. It was good value for money - great location, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast included, clean and comfortable rooms. I would recommend this hotel for a budget break.

The staff were very accommodating, friendly and made our stay enjoyable. The room itself was adequate for a good night's sleep after full days of sightseeing in Amsterdam. Not too far of a walk from the city centre, and in a nice, quiet neighbourhood. The morning breakfast was excellent, and we felt the whole hotel was very clean. Good value...

We were in Amsterdam for about 3 days 2 nights and booked here Late November early December. A wonderful lady name Kelly working at the desk gave us all the details and went above and beyond with her customer service and ensured we were happy and filled us in about trips etc.. They somehow ran out of coffee the one...

Arrived late in a taxi & the door was opened before we even had our bags from the cab by Adam👍🏻 He checked us in while our guys took the bags UP Stairs! Typical Amsterdam.... Steep, Steeper, Steepest!!! Top floor on the first night but we left a request for a lower floor next day & thanks to the lovely...

Stayed at Hotel Hortus for 2 nights in a family room and one night in a double. Both rooms were clean and comfortable and staff at the hotel were incredibly helpful - allowing us to leave our bags as we arrived before check-in and after check-out. Because 2 of us were staying an extra night they also made sure our...

I stayed here for a long weekend as part of a 12 man stag do. It was perfect for everything we needed. Close enough to the Center that you could walk back after a few to many pints. Rooms and hotel were clean. The female receptionist was very informative when we checked in. Would recommend for a cheap hotel where...

I booked myself and my hens in here for a long weekend. If you want cheap but clean and close to the center this might just be the place for you. Short walk to the zoo and rembrandt square. Beds were clean and comfortable and staff were friendly. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to everyone....

Good breakfast, nice enough room - had a sink in it which was handy. There were bikes available to hire from the hostel which was great and they let us leave our luggage with them on our last day. It was perhaps a little overpriced but we didn't mind too much. Our only real issue with the place was the...

The location of the hotel is rather good but so far the positive news. The rooms are very small and old, you can hear people in the room next to you and there is quite some noise at night. Breakfast is very basic (bread, eggs, some ham and jam). We have no wifi signal in our room. The water in...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
