Spent 5 nights here in a superior room on the top floor overlooking the rooftops of west Amsterdam. The welcome and room were great, particularly the bathroom. Both were particularly well fitted out. The service seemed to be either excellent where nothing was too much trouble served with a smile or indifferent, grumpy and asking for more coffee 3 times...

The concierges were exceptionally good, mapping walks for us, getting tix, arranging dinner reservations and truly understanding what we wanted. The hotel was super clean and the restaurants were excellent. The breakfast buffet was ample and always replenished.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel last Spring for a few days. The rooms were lovely. Ours was a suite with a fantastic bathroom. Friends of ours really got lucky, being given the large tower room on top of the hotel. Service was excellent, the breakfast buffet was delicious and the restaurant overlooked/ was on the canal. The...

We stayed here for five days prior to a river cruise. Wanted to explore Amsterdam a little and this was the perfect location. Walking distance to a lot of the attractions. The hotel staff is very professional and service oriented. The hotel room was great--overlooked the canal from several stories up--very quiet at night. However, be careful of which room...

Easy to access, fantastic location. We have a private rooftop deck with a great view of the canals below. Room is spacious by European standards and the bathroom is positively luxurious. Internet works (unlike last place I stayed ) and the staff are accommodating. I would return.

As other reviewers noted, this is a beautiful hotel in the perfect location. Our room was large and clean - only a view of an atrium but that was not a problem for us. We stayed for four nights. Most noteworthy was a really great bed from the linens to the exceptional comfort. A computer and printer are available off...

Great location, luxury hotel. Near the river cruises, shopping and tram. The central train station is only a short tram ride away. Very central location to shop, stroll, river ride, take a train to another city, take a tram, restaurants, etc. Would definitely stay here again

We stayed in a Junior Suite overlooking the canal. The room was large and very comfortable. The bathroom was nice and had a soaking tub and a walk-in rain shower. I had the pleasure of staying four nights. My experience from start to finish was exceptional. I stayed in a junior suite and it was very comfortable. Full breakfast buffet had wonderful selections and of course additional or special requests were handled. The concierge staff were exceptional and arranged wonderful dude trips. Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
