We stayed here at the end of August this year and can not wait to go back! Already planning a return next May. The hotel is situated in the middle of everything and we walked everywhere, from museums to restaurants to shopping and the flower market. We had an upgrade to a Jr. Suite which was out of this world....

We recently stayed at De L'Europe for 2 nights with 2 other couples. We did not get a room with a view of the canal, but it was still quite nice. The room was a bit small, but the bathroom was very large and luxurious. The hotel has an excellent location and we could walk to everything. We had the...

Chose the hotel because it overlooks one of the canals. The hotel is superb, it "sits" on a corner of the canal, you get fantastic views and feel that you are at the heart of everything but because of excellent soundproofing, you don't have to hear any noise if you don't want to. Dinner is good, breakfast is brilliant. Have...

This hotel has beautifully appointed spacious rooms. The staff is very attentive from the front desk, to the concierge, food and beverage and bell desk. We spent four nights here this month and will definitely stay here on our next visit to Amsterdam.

The rooms are awesome. Try and get an exterior facing room. The service is first classes. This is one of the best locations in all of Amsterdam. Make sure to stop in Freddy's bar for a drink. Close to all the museums.

Spent 5 days in this hotel and it was a great experience. Staff courteous, friendly and very helpful (Especially the charming concierge who was exceptionally helpful). Had a junior suite there and it was modern, well designed, very nicely decorated, comfortable (lovely bed), great view over the river, and a superb bathroom. Good central location. Will definitely return.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
