What a stunning hotel. We had a three night stay and it was wonderful. The beds were really comfortable and the bathroom and room were super clean...( I own a cleaning company) I was not able to find fault at all :)). This hotel has wonderful staff and a good thing in a beautiful area with very close restaurants and bars.
Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff, Good breakfast with both warm and cold options (and tasty glutenfree bread on request), Cozy and clean room with a very comfortable bed, The hotel is located on a quiet street, Close to Vondelpark and Museumplein (15 minutes walk), The tram stop is just around the corner (3 minutes walk).
I booked a room with this hotel in January, 2022. A schedule change with our cruise forced us to change our dates and I contacted them in early February to request a change. We had purchased at the flex rate, so we were able to change our dates without penalty until 24 hours prior. They never responded. I followed up again when finalizing the details of our trip (still over a month before our arrival) and was told that our requests had "slipped through the cracks as an accident" and they would not be able to accommodate us. Now, I'm scrambling to find a new room and I'm paying significantly more because of the hotel's "accident." They've done nothing to try to make it better. Beware that even if you book well in advance and pay more to have your room guaranteed, you can still be left scrambling for accommodations. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.…
Location was a bit outside but central was easily accessible via tram. Takes around 18mins. Cleanliness: table had some sticky spots on it don’t know what was it… Worst experience is on our floor they started construction work from 8:30 in the morning so we couldn’t catch any sleep at all. Staff gave an excuse that it was urgent maintenance however we saw the setup was there previous day when we arrived!
This is a charming boutique hotel and good value for money, the staff are lovely and the breakfast buffet is extensive and good quality. We also loved the free apples! The hotel is not right in the city centre but well connected by tram. We don't mind walking and did not need to use the public transport as everything you would want to see was never more than a couple of miles away. The hair dryer and a outlet in our room (44) did not work, this was the only negative.
An old building that transformed to a hotel in a very nice and quiet Neighborhood, not like the city center hotels. Perfect location midway between the airport and the center. My room was in the third floor, it’s a small room, but it’s okay since I’m solo and staying for 2 nights. The room and bathroom is very clean, very comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent and very good selection. The staff where super nice throughout my stay. Very helpful if you need anything. Definitely will come again.
Hotel is located in cozy beautiful Amsterdam district not far away from the city center. There are a lot of opportunities nearby: food, shops, tram stations, cafes. We liked our staying there a lot. Only matrass was too soft for my back)
The atmosphere in the lobby, the halls, and my room was great but the staff deserves full points. Each and every member of the staff was eager to accommodate and made sure I had all the information I needed to confidently know where I was headed out for the day. I wish I’d gotten his name, but I’d left 3 items of clothing to be washed before I checked out and since there were so few items, he told me he’d washed them himself at home. I was shocked, surprised, and very embarrassed that I didn’t have any money handy, but VERY appreciative. This is more than above and beyond amazing service as far as I’m concerned.
Ricki and the team were most warm and attentive and made us feel very welcomed. Most unique city setting adjacent wonderful green and nice cafes Once fully reopened I can imagine the food will be great.
If you're a fan of modern, soulless and characterless hotels, this one is not for you. You'll have plenty of such choices to pick in Amsterdam. Apollofirst made a wonderful job of preserving the spirit of good old times when life was slower and moments were more appreciated. Every section of the hotel speaks history. Lobby, bar, especially the bar and breakfast area, rooms and corridors, elevator. There is even an old style theatre within the hotel! It is boutique type of hotel, but so well thought through. Don't get me started on beautiful terrace. Staff is at the level of world's best hotels. In particular I have to praise Luuk, who is an excellent receptionist, and not a bad waiter either. He is also a great guy to talk to, knowledgeable and smart, with bright future ahead. Then there is Rick, guy in charge for your breakfast and who ensures you feel special and have perfect stay. He also seems to be doing so much for the hotel itself during these tough times for hospitality industry. Rooms are cleaned daily so you don't have to worry about it. Mattress as well as pillows are arguably one of the best I slept on. Size of the room is large enough. Nights are peaceful. No unwanted noises. Breakfast may be a bit improved. I understand silly covid restrictions, but if you can get eggs, why are beans and sausages forbidden. One big charade this pandemic has been, but that's a topic for some other place, and hotel cannot be blamed for it. I couldn't pick the better neighborhood. You have all the silence you need, it is never crowded with cars or people and is nice to stroll around. If you're into some Amsterdam city center action, tram station is 5 minutes by foot and takes about 15 minutes to get you there. Personally, I liked so much not having to wear mask not just in a hotel, but everywhere else. It is only mandated to have one in public transport. The liberal and smart Netherlands. Hope other countries will follow. There you have it. If you have such a love and admiration for magic of old times, your only choice in Amsterdam is Apollofirst. And what a choice that is! 4 star hotel with 5 stars service and surroundings. I know where I'll stay next time I'm back in Dutch capital.…
