I stayed here for four nights in late November. Our room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The bathroom had plenty of room for our toiletries. The decor throughout the hotel is quite beautiful; the feeling is one of beautiful comfort - not stuffy at all. They have an extensive art collection on display throughout. We ate breakfast in the...

This hotel was an amazing find in Amsterdam. Our room was elegant, the location perfect, the service divine. Our family shared a triple room overlooking the canal - and the Light Festival which we enjoyed. It was such an amazing experience to be treated to such fabulous hospitality and lovely accommodation that we want to return very soon. The location...

My husband and I stayed one night before we flew to Tanzania and four nights after our trip to Africa. The Ambassade is a beautiful, first-rate hotel; some of the best service (at the front desk and in the restaurant) that I have ever received in a hotel. The common rooms are filled with a wonderful art collection and comfortable...

What a delight! The rooms are comfortable, well appointed, and spacious by European standards. The bar and common areas are pleasant, with many books, and framed art in all common spaces, including hallways, by Cobra (COpenhagen, BRussels, and Amsterdam) artists who started working together in 1942. The romantic location on Herrengracht, on the canals, among the "9 streets," close to...

I stayed there one night and they gave me a fantastic room with a view of the canal. The room was very spacious and warm. Next morning breakfast was also nice. After breakfast I looked at the hotels art collection of Cobra group and I expressed my admiration to the concierge and he gave me as a present a book...

Thank you very much, Mr Angelo. Good to read you enjoyed the paintings of the CoBrA-art in the restaurants, the corridors and your room. We shall compliment the concierge and hope to see you back soon. Eelco Douma, Ambassade Hotel

Perfect stay, excellent staff...very well located, with a marvelous view of one of the canals! The staff also helped us buying tickets online to attractions that at first were sold out...I would easily rebook again (nothing to complain at all...and I mean it!).

I booked through booking.com, I made an error in the booking (my fault) and the hotel was very good about sorting it out for me. Pre-care therefore very good. The reception was faultless; the three rooms we booked were all excellent. The staff were helpful without being intrusive. We did not eat in the hotel, we had drinks in the...

We chose the Ambassade because it had great reviews and a canal view. We had no idea this hotel would be so incredible. First, the service is unbelievable. Albert, the head bartender in the absolutely amazing library bar is pretty much the best. He told us stories, laughed at our jokes, gave us fantastic recommendations for local haunts and remembered...

It's so wonderful reading you enjoyed so many different aspects of the Ambassade Hotel. We informed Albert you had a great time in the Library Bar (did you know all of the more then 4000 books on display there have been signed by the authors during their visits to the Ambassade Hotel?). Hope the weight-gain was only temporary :) and...

Was lucky to find this great boutique hotel in the heart of Amsterdam! The accommodations and service were wonderful! Loved the cozy library & game room and lovely spot for morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Good value for money. Would highly recommend.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
