Having tried the other brands available under accor hotels, I was pleasantly surprised by the Ibis Amsterdam Stopera. Pro's: Location is great, 7-10 min walk to Rembrantplein, 2 blocks away from a central shopping area where you can find supermarkets, trams, etc. The waterlooplein station is closeby so you can get on the metro pretty easily as well. Rooms were...

The hotel is located just outside the center. In 5 minutes walk you are within the center. O walk a couple of minutes to take a tram/metro at Waterloo Station, which takes you to all the site of Amsterdam. The zoo Artis is within 10 minutes walk, as is the Nautical museum and the Science museum Nemo. The rooms are...

Typical Ibis hotel, identical to most other hotels of the chain. If you have been to one Ibis, you have been to all of them. Location is good, near the Stopera complex, a short hop to Rembrandtplein and the southern end of Amsterdam’s grandest canals. There is a computer with free internet access in the lobby and free wi-fi all...

Stayed for 1 night and found the room to be very clean with a llovely double bed which was comfortable. Very friendly staff who helped us find places around Amsterdam. The only thing we found slightly disappointing was there breakfast.

At first i was a tiny bit nervous about going to this hotel at a rate of £80.00 per night, normally we stay in the renaissance hotel when in amsterdam. There was no need for me to be nervous, the room and hotel were clean with a comfortable bed which is all that is needed when on a city break....

Stayed here 2 years ago and liked the hotel so booked it again. The beds have been upgraded with foam toppers and are very comfortable. Probably the best bed I have every had in Europe. Wifi is now free in the rooms and was fast. Room was very clean and quiet and the staff great.

My partner and myself stayed Saturday-Tues at the Ibis, only a 10 min walk to the centre of Amsterdam, superbly located, just to the east of the city. Couldn't fault the service, Easy check in and was provided with a room on the second floor facing the Canal. Our room was spacious enough for 2 people and a compact bathroom...

I've been to Amsterdam a good handful of times now and it is a city notorious for having a very poor price/quality ratio when it comes to accomodation. I spent literally days scouring every booking website I could find trying to find somewhere sub-£50 that wasn't a total dump and I had to admit defeat. I came to the conclusion...

My wife, my son and I stayed for 3 nights. We found the staff extremely polite and helpful. The buffet breakfast was very good with a wide range of food on offer and enough variety to suit all tastes. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, respoonding to requests efficiently and to our complete satisfaction. We ate out each...

We stayed at this hotel for three nights and found every aspect of the hotel fantastic, I cannot praise the staff enough! We asked for a room at the back of the hotel that overlooked the canal, I think this is why we got a very good nights sleep, as the front of the hotel is on the busy main...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
