INK Hotel Amsterdam is a bohemian lifestyle hotel where the traditional rules of hospitality are freely translated to the modern day, writing a contemporary story in INK. INK delivers a luxury lifestyle experience with a personal touch for your own story to be written. It all began in 1904 when the building which now houses the hotel became the base of the Dutch newspaper “Tijd”. It was a place where stories were born, written and ultimately printed. This former use of the premises also explains the name of the hotel. Located at the heart of the city, this 4-star hotel is in an excellent location with major attractions within easy reach.

Stayed here for extended weekend - disappointed given the price. Good location but no views. Public areas are in the lower ground floor and although very stylish, retain little of the original building’s character. There is also a small outside patio area at the bottom of a deep lightwell. Requested a quiet room on a high floor several months in advance - got a 1st floor room with an interconnecting door to the next room. Overlooked a long narrow side street that all the delivery lorries reverse up slowly beeping loudly early in the morning - no chance of lie in. Better quality double glazing would have helped. Room was small (even by London and Paris standards) and low ceilinged. Bathroom was open plan to make the most use of the limited space but frosted glass door to the toilet cubicle didn't shut as it had dropped on its hinges, and shower door leaked. Decor was odd mix of luxury (marble vanity surround, comfy bed) and budget (grey lino hospital floor, polypropolene rug beneath the bed). Air con was feeble and didn't cool the room, fridge was noisy and on off switch didn’t work, and there was little storage and hanging space. Tea, coffee and water supplies were nice but limited (one english breakfast tea bag and only 2 milks) and not properly replenished on room service. Breakfast buffet was fine - only 2 egg options, no waffles or pancakes, and croissants were mini, but the quality was good. Overall underwhelming and wouldn’t rush back.

Stayed here a lot of times - it is an old newspaper building converted into a Sofitel. The rooms are brilliant with Amsterdam street map wallpaper that is hand written. The quality of the rooms is very high if a bit small, but you are right in the centre. The bar area doubles as the restaurant and breakfast. Food is great - its child friendly and also good for business. I stay here for both.

Arrived early in the morning. Front desk staff took our bags informed us that our room wouldn't be ready until the afternoon and that they'd have our bags sent to our room when it was ready. We returned in the early evening. Bags were not in our room. We went to the room and unpacked only to find that the air conditioning wasn't working in that room. As a result of a few conversations, it became apparent that they knew the AC didn't work in that room and put us in there regardless. We moved floors and were put in a new room. AC barely worked in the new room, but was better than the first room. However, the mini fridge wasn't working. Front desk tried to tell us that it wasn't a mini-fridge, it was a just a cooler and didn't need electricity. Obviously, that was not true. As an alternative to a mini-fridge, they sent us a bucket of ice. To add insult to injury, the bucket leaked. Second night and everyone on the new floor has received a note stating that the AC would be shut off for repairs. The shoddy and rude service continued for our entire stay. This hotel has a lovely open courtyard where you can enjoy a drink and cigarette/cigar. For our last night, we grabbed a bottle of wine and went to sit in the open courtyard and enjoy a glass of wine and a cigar for my husband. The front desk guy came out and told us we couldn't sit in the courtyard as there was a history of guests sitting in the courtyard and smoking pot, which disturbed guests in the rooms above. My husband and I are ~50 yr old professionals. Absolutely ridiculous. The guy didn't want us in there because he would have to clean up the glasses and ashtray. I do not have a single good experience to report for this hotel. Staff out and out lied to us about the AC and minifridge and smiled while doing it. Further, we'd put the 'Please Clean Room' sign on the door each day, and each day is wasn't done when we returned in the evening. Always had to ask to get the room cleaned. Also, of note the street it is on is undergoing major work.

Excellent hotel, very well located in the main street of Amsterdam. The reception is professional and efficient. The room (deluxe) is spacious, quite and very clean. The furniture of the hotel is stylish and friendly. The breakfast is generous and of very high quality. If you look an hotel in the center of Amsterdam, just go for it.

It has been a number of years since we stayed here and the place has had a great transformation. The place is now light and welcoming as you enter. Our room was well furnished and comfortable. We had lunch and breakfast and both were of a good standard and service. The staff are excellent so all in all an excellent stay and would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for 3 nights in August 2022, we were a family of 4 and had 2 rooms. We checked in early and we able to have one of the rooms straight away. When we returned to check in to our our other room the gentleman on the desk was super helpful in giving us advise on the local area. All the staff we spoke to were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were very clean but they are on the small side and the glass bathroom door is interesting! Our bathroom door was literally next to my pillow, it wasn’t an issue for us but our teenagers were sharing a room and they kept popping to our room when the other ‘needed to go’ ! The toiletries and tea and coffee were replaced every day, as were the towels. The tv had a good range of channels. The beds were really comfy and the air con worked well. We had an issue with the coffee machine, it was plugged into what seemed to be a smart plug, once we removed that it worked. There is also a fridge in the room, we had to turn it off though as it was noisy. The bar area was nice and quiet, the breakfast was lovely and they would cook you what ever you wanted if you asked. They offered to make my daughter pancakes which was a nice touch. The hotel is quite quirky with all the hand drawn maps etc. the secret garden in the courtyard was cute. It’s in a really good location to explore Amsterdam, 15 mins to the station, easy to walk with a small suitcase. I’d definitely stay there again if I am ever to return to Amsterdam.

Short walk from the train station, very friendly and professional receptionist. Immaculately clean bedroom and bathroom, quiet ( maybe because the road outside was closed whilst we were there) close to Dam Square. I like the little courtyard with tables and chairs, the decor throughout, the quirky wallpaper in the bedrooms. I just live it all.

Stayed at the Ink for 5 nights this month. we loved the people, each one was a mini concierge - full of ideas and fun. The included breakfasts are worth the price of the room, and the meals we had there other than breakfast were also awesome. Cool rooms, beautifully decorated with a writers vibe, - it was a treat to come in each night.

We found the INK MGallery hotel to be an excellent choice. While the street (Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal) is commercial and mundane compared to others, the hotel is centrally located and we were able to walk most places in the core of Amsterdam. The hotel is modern, unique inside, with a writers theme (converted from a former publishing house), clean, engaging, with a good atmosphere and staff. We were a group of 6 (3 rms) and they didn't have all of our reservations initially (Booking.com). Eventually they found us a room and the matter was resolved. Rooms are small, but most are in europe. Bed was good, slept well, and without street noise. The restaurant is just off the lobby, where we had an excellent breakfast every morning. We would return.

Stayed here for 3 nights from 19th to 22nd August with my mum. Check in was quick and easy and the staff were very friendly. They offered to help us book tours and recommend good restuarants and attractions. We booked a superior double room and had plenty of space. The best was very big and comfortable. The bathroom was a good size with everything you needed including Toiletries - shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, a vanity kit, soap and shower cap. We also had robes and slippers (super comfy) in the wardrobes. The only negatives about the room (not major issues) were the wardrobe space for hanging clothes but had plenty of shelves. The shower head (rainfall) is abit too far away from the wall and causes the water to go everywhere so the bathroom floor got very wet. The water pressure was fantastic and the shower was huge. The heating in the room didn't work but a lovely maintenance man came to try to fix it. He was unable to so he gave us a blow heater which we were very grateful for. The safe was very spacious and super easy to use. Loved the sockets built into the bedframe for easy charging. We were on the first floor at the back of the building (above the garden room) so were woken early by the restuarant staff preparing breakfast but this wasn't a big deal. The TV was a decent size and had several English channels including BBC1, BBC2, GREAT MOVIES, GREAT ACTION ETC. The fridge was spacious but did make alot of noise so we turned it off turning the night (on/off button inside the fridge made this so easy to do). The tea making facilities were very good but we didn't have enough milk, sugar or teabags and these weren't replenished when the cleaning staff came in. We asked at reception for larger cups as the cups in the room were very small coffee cups and also asked for some sugar. The staff at reception could not have been more helpful. They gave us bigger mugs, sugar and even gave us a plate of biscuits to have with our tea :). The garden room was lovely and handy to have a space to smoke in but did close around 11pm. The location was great, very safe area and quiet enough not to disturb your sleep if at the front of the building. I would highly recommend this hotel.
