Hotel Die Port van Cleve is a famous Dutch hotel located directly behind the Royal Palace & facing Dam Square. Due to its central location, you will find many touristic and cultural sites within walking distance. Hotel Die Port van Cleve has a rich history. Heineken opened its first brewery in this building in 1864. Hulscher's restaurant is famous for its numbered steaks and Bar-Bodega ‘De Blauwe Parade’ has an unique Delft blue tile fresco dating from 1887. The rooms are decorated with references to the authentic tile fresco in the bar. In 2020 due to its 150 anniversary around 20 rooms were renovated and are now themed with one of our six memorable moments. The ground floor is entirely renovated.

We’re very glad we chose this hotel . Covid regulations prevented us from staying last fall but very happy we could make it this time . We had 3 rooms , 2 were average European hotel rooms but ours was quite large . Staff were helpful and knowledgeable. The new bartender offered lots of local info as well as the lovely lady who worked Saturday afternoon

Its well located hotel The only drawback was the closure of the road in front of the hotel. No car and taxi. I took a taxi to get to the hotel and had to dropped off at the back of the hotel Spuistraat 133-135 and walked to the lobby and asked the receptionist to open the backdoor. The staff was very helpfull. Check in process waa smooth. I Got the room ready by 10.00am. The room was spacious Free internet was fast Coffee machine is provided. Bathroom was nice and the shower was powerfull.

Great location and history of the building. 100 steps to the Royal Palace. The building and accommodations are very nice. The only issue, and hence the rating, was that the on-site restaurant was open only for breakfast. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Room was a decent size, and staff was very helpful. Best thing about this hotel is how centrally located it is. However, people should be warned: the train stop right outside the hotel is torn up, so there is a huge construction site you have to walk through right in front of the hotel (as of 8.22). Hopefully the work will be done soon, because having a train stop right out front of the hotel would be even more convenient. Definitely had a good stay here.

Quality hotel, walking distance to the shops, dining, and Central Station. Great staff and a great buffet breakfast. Close to the Cruise Port, and canal tours, we were literally 5 minutes from everything we needed to see Amsterdam. Outdoor dining options abounded, and great people watching at the dizzying array of bars and restaurants.

Being a frequent traveler I never had such a horrible experience as in this hotel... double payments, lack of reaction, incorrect information (on purpose?) when presenting my VISA card at the reception.... I would recommend any hotel in Amsterdam except this one!

Great location, despite the construction - taxis can only get you within a block or two, otherwise accessible by walking. Comfortable bed! Quirky and dated rooms - weird steps from door down to bedroom - just weird, but lighted. The breakfast was not incuded and at 20EU it seemed excessive. I don't understand why we could not just order a la carte to get a coffee and a pastry, The restaurant looked charming but honestly it was always pretty empty so that seems like a missed opportunity there.

We have been to Amsterdam previously, but this was our first stay at this hotel and I can not recommend it highly enough. The location was perfect. You walk out the front door, cross the road and you are in Dam square. We arrived well before the 3 PM check in time, but our room was ready for us. We simply paid the city tax that was outstanding, having paid for the room at the time of booking. I was not asked to put a credit card on file for incidentals. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable. The front of house staff were polite and very friendly and the room attendants had the room cleaned for you by late morning, but never came early enough to wake you up. I would definitely stay here again and I would most certainly recommend them to any one who asked.

A tired old hotel. The photos on their web site don’t show the tiny rooms that have such small air conditioners that one just can’t sleep in the heat. The linens were dried over the kitchen exhaust, smelly. There is construction in front of the hotel causing one to walk a ways with luggage to get there or leave. Leaving was the best part of our stay. The only redeeming part of the hotel was the friendly and helpful staff.

Hotel is a fine boutique hotel beds are comfortable rooms good size. Small but nice bathroom with shower only. Helpful staff. Now the problem. You will not sleep past 7 am. The jack hammer from construction. Starts loud hammering outside the window !further when we arrived with lots of luggage since this is only part of a long trip. The taxi from the airport. Refused to drive us further that 5 blocks away. We had to call the hotel to come help us trudge through dust filled dirty street to get to hotel is was horrible. It should be noted. I called the day before and asked reception. What is the best way to get to hotel from airport ! they never told us about construction They just said. Take a cab. I would not recommend this hotel until the construction is finished. My shoes are ruined from the dirt and dust. Wait till after !
