My stay at the MAI hotel fills me with mixed emotions. Before booking I researched many hotels, as this was a belated anniversary trip and we wanted a boutique hotel close to the attractions. On arrival we were pleasantly suprised by the location, being within 10 mins walk from Amterdam Central station and situated on the 'Canals'. I had reserved the 'King Size - Canal View' room (with the love package) but on arrival there was much confusion. The hotel reception was manned only by 'Edwin', who seemed to be over whelmed with the queue of people waiting and we were eventually checked into the incorrect room. After spending 10 minutes in the wrong room, we returned to reception to complain. Edwin looked extremely confused, was unsure how the system had allocated this room but was finally able to book us into the correct room. The Canal View room was nice and spacious but not as luxurious as we had expected. We were also dissapointed by the lack of a staffed bar but it did have an 'Honesty' bar, which is a fancy way of saying serve yourself and pay. In summary this is a hotel that flattered to decieve and looks to be suffereing the affects of being short staffed. It felt like staying in a very nice Hostel, rather than a choice boutique hotel,…
I loved the concept of this hotel. Rooms are pristine and clean, spacious, airy. Receptionists were very helpful and they helped efficiently with all my questions. Location is superb, 5-10 minutes from the train station and right in the city center. The price was affordable, thanks to the pandemic situation paradoxically. I would stay at this place again because everything was excellent: design, comfortability, friendliness, location, renovated building... I would love to come back there.
I stayed here for only one night, the staff were super friendly and helpful, I felt immediately comfortable. The room was spacious and very clean - best nights sleep I’ve had in a while. Really close to the train station. Would definitely stay here again when in Amsterdam!
It was a very comfortable and large room with excellent 24hrs customer service support available. The location is perfect as it is near the key tourist spot but yet it is in a location where it is totally silent. There is no smoking smell and the bed is very comfortable.
Lovely hotel, we had the canal view room which has a lovely view. Spacious rooms and cool design. Very homely feel in the reception. Staff all lovely, great location go round the corner and you are in all the Amsterdam action! Really would recommend to anyone travelling here.
Nice hotel, great location, friendly staff. Check in was smooth, we had a family room which was large and had a sofa as well. No issues at all during our 3 night stay. Shops, bars and cafes were a 10min walk away and hotel was only a 10min walk from the train station. Very convenient for us.
It is a very nice hotel but our experience was not good. Our room was never cleaned despite leaving the room from 10am and came back at around 4pm only to find our room the same way we left. Since we were tired we decided to just sleep on the same bedings and re-use all the amenities.
Clean, great service, was pleasant by all means. We enjoyed it very much. Location was very good and comfortable. We surely will be back again to enjoy your hospitality and great service. We thank you and appreciate your hospitality. Arela
The hotel is extremely conveniently located with the benefit of being modern, clean and good sized rooms. The hotel operates an honesty bar which is well stocked with a decent variety of drinks. Staff at the front desk were helpful and the check in/check out process was simple. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.
Lovely hotel! Exactly what I was hoping for. We got one of the Triple rooms so we could share the cost with my mother-in-law. It had a king bed and a single/twin bed. The twin is tucked away, giving it good privacy. The room and bathroom were big. The 3 of us never felt cramped. I was worried about what some of the less positive reviews had said about the service, cleanliness, and lighting, but we didn’t experience anything negative about the hotel or room. Everything was very clean. The beds and furniture were comfortable. The service was great and all the staff were polite, welcoming, and helpful. We found the lighting to be very bright and we had a wall of windows which was really nice. PRO TIP: the lighting has a low and a high setting; this is not obvious. Just press the main light switch a few times to get it to change. I’m guessing that the people who complained about the lighting didn’t figure this out. It is true that the lights next to the bathroom mirror could be brighter for putting on make-up. The location is perfect; close to so many great restaurants, the train station, and attractions. We walked everywhere for 3 days. The breakfast buffet was very good with lots of choices. It was my mother-in-law’s first time out of the U.S. and we wanted to give her an authentic European experience. We didn’t want to stay at a big hotel chain. Hotel Mai was a wonderful choice! We absolutely loved our stay.…
