I stayed for four days staff very friendly and helpful the showerwas brilliant and the bed and pillows were so comfortable the hotel is in a lovely area close to art museums and with many bars and restaurants close by the only small thing was that in very warm weather as i had air conditioning would have been needed If i come back to amsterdam i will stay here again
This hotel is spotlessly clean, and has an excellent location. Wifi is fast, and in-room tea/coffee (Nespresso) facilities are generous. Breakfast is great, with lots of options. Mike, the host, is very friendly and helpful. I've seen lots of comments online about the stairs .... but they are wide (almost 2m) and not very steep at all by Amsterdam standards. Additionally, the building is only three stories high anyway! But yes, there is no lift (elevator).
The hotel is very well located. 15 min walking from museum square. At first glance all looks fine but unfortunately we had a misfortune to stay in the room with bed bugs. I saw them early morning :( Please pay attention to bed sheets - if you see black little spots it means there are bed bugs (lesson learned only now for me). We were bitten by them and the marks can appear later (in my case it was 3 days later) Another disadvantage is extreme noise from the street. All night long people shouting and partying - very poor isolation (windows glass very thin and no external blinds) + size of the rooms -super small All in all to pay 150EUR for this - not worth at all !!! What was also shocking to me - behavior of the manager when I reported bed bugs issue. He was not surprised, he even did not apologize! needless to say - no compensation was offered.…
Delightful accommodation in a very happening area of Amsterdam (close to Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum and many other places of interest, including several great restaurants, and the Gay district as well. The hotel also owns a small additional building a few doors down, designated as a B&B, which is where we stayed. The building only has two rooms which are incredible spacious, including a small kitchen, en suite bathroom --- all recently renovated and very attractive. The owner, Klaas, and manager, Mike, have been incredibly kind and attentive to us. Mike in particular really went above and beyond, and pulled us out of a difficult spot. Enormously helpful. Definitely recommend.
Staying at this hotel added to the experience of our holiday. The rooms are clean, small yet functional. The stairs are very steep & difficult to carry up any heavy luggage. The breakfast is home-cooked to order, & very nice with good quality produce. The staff are very friendly & helpful. The hotel is well located. Will definitely stay again.
Had a great stay at Amistad on our long weekend in the Netherlands. We stayed in the B & B section (top attic room) and highly recommend. It was large and updated. The included breakfast is delicious and the host was so kind to cook us extra pancakes and book us a cab for when the city transportation was on strike. Area is safe and had lots of good food & bars nearby. Highly recommend if you are looking for a clean, cute & price efficient place to stay.
We stayed 3 nights here recently during our visit to Amsterdam. It’s well located close to Leidseplein and about 15 mins walk to centre of city (Dam Sw/Central Station) and about same to Museumplein area. But there’s a tram stop just 2 minutes from the hotel which has trams serving these areas at 5-7 minute intervals. The hotel itself is cosy and very clean, rooms are small but comfy, shower excellent. Breakfasts are good too with eggs as you like & pancakes, cereals, tea & coffee etc. Staff are friendly and helpful. Only issue was early morning street noise , which in fairness isn’t the hotel’s fault. The area is quiet and safe. We would recommend this hotel and will stay there again on or next visit
I've been staying at the Amistad for many years now, but January was my first stay since the new owner took over and the major renovations had taken place. It was great to see Mike still there and Klaas (new owner) was the perfect host. Breakfast was still up to the usual high standard with freshly prepared eggs and pancakes, fruits, cereals and cold meats. I stayed in a double room which was renovated (as all the rooms have) to a very high standard with really comfortable beds, rain shower, Nespresso coffee machines and Samsung smart TV's with Netflix and Amazon Prime apps installed to save you having to watch on your tablets, should you decide on a night in. Even the Wi-Fi's been improved with me getting download speeds just over 300 meg. All in all, very impressed and reasonably priced for Amsterdam. A really nice change from the usual corporate hotel chains…
Having just stayed at the Amistad hotel I'd like to leave a review and recommend this place to others. It's a simple but very clean place and the staff are very friendly. Breakfast was lovely (fresh pancakes made every morning) and the location was perfect I would definitely stay again
We were 7 nights. The room is small with comfy twin beds. The room is clean, no much space for clothes. Bathroom has a clear door only. No AC but fan. The breakfast was good and well served. The staff was helpful . The hotel is near the flower market , a few minutes walk to Dam square. Hotel is recommended.
